Description
Salt Cay is not a commercialized resort-filled island, in fact, it's quite the opposite. It's a miniscule island in the Turks & Caicos which offers dive enthusiasts, snorkelers and ocean photographers pristine corals, reef fish and up to 200 feet of underwater visibility.
The island itself isn't much to look at; its heritage as a flourishing salt industry is visible with stone walls and canals, old windmills and aging piles of sea salt. It's dry, desert-like terrain isn't anything to boast about either but the beaches and water make up for it. Pure powder, white sand beaches go on for miles, deserted and virgin. Warm, turquoise waters lap at your ankles beckoning you to come in and play. That's all you'll do here!
Castaways is a modest beach house featuring one bedroom apartments with queen-sized beds, fully furnished kitchens, living rooms with pull-out sofas and bathrooms. Each apartment has a large private deck facing the sea for lounging, reading, sunning and enjoying the beautiful sunsets each evening.
This place isn't for everyone, but if total relaxation, and escape from the usual tourist trappings is your idea of a perfect vacation, Castaways and Salt Cay might just be the ticket.
