Parrot Cay Resort & Shambhala Retreat - Turks and Caicos

A private island resort, based northeast of the main island of Providenciales, Parrot Cay Resort has a total of 55 rooms/suites and private beach houses. Parrot Cay is a retreat for those who seek total relaxation and rejuvenation of body and soul. White Sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters and kaleidoscopic marine life make Parrot Cay the ideal place to unwind. The accommodations at Parrot Cay Resort include standalone villas on the beach, within 100 ft of the sea, and hotel-style rooms on slightly raised ground (a two- to five-minute walk to the sand). Parrot Cay houses both garden view and ocean facing rooms, one bedroom suites and one bedroom beach houses with individual plunge pools.

Parrot Cay Estate is a collection of villas located beyond Rocky Point, affording guests a private beach that's both empty and secure. The homes are designed for the most discerning traveler who seeks the villa experience with hotel services attached. The three-bedroom homes feature large bedrooms with ocean-view sitting areas, living room, dining area, kitchen and outdoor dining area, private swimming pool, direct access to the beach and private butler service. Privacy is ensured as the villas are a 5-7 minute buggy ride from the main resort.

The Garden View rooms are surprisingly spacious rooms and feature light Balinese furniture, a four-poster bed draped in white voile and large dining table. French doors open onto a private verandah with direct access to the gardens. The airy bathroom has a ceramic bath and separate shower.

The Ocean Facing rooms look out over landscaped gardens and towards the ocean. Tiled floors, Balinese furniture and white cottons give the rooms a sun-drenched feel. The bathrooms have a ceramic bath and shower.

Parrot Cay's oversized COMO Suites feature a separate living room, bedroom and two bathrooms. Cosy sofas and a generous dining table offer space to relax. French doors lead onto a wooden balcony with a daybed and garden views. One of the bathrooms has a shower and tub.

The One Bedroom Beach Houses are semi-detached and have a spacious living room with a dining area as well as a light-flooded conservatory with sun loungers. The bedroom has a four-poster and ensuite bathroom. In addition, there is a separate guest bathroom and private sundeck with heated plunge pool.

The One Bedroom Beach Villas are facing directly onto the ocean, these villas with direct beach access are flanked by lush vegetation to ensure total privacy. Each villa boasts a large living room with a dining area, a bedroom with a four-poster, a light-flooded conservatory, ensuite bathroom, an outdoor shower garden, kitchenette, guest bathroom and private sundeck with heated plunge pool.

The Como Villa is a detached three-bed villa with ocean views comprises two large master bedrooms featuring four-poster king-size beds, patios and ensuite bathrooms with outdoor shower gardens and a third bedroom. Designed in Parrot Cay's signature style, the comfortable living room has a generous dining area and leads onto a private sundeck with a heated swimming pool, sun loungers and an outside dining table. Butler services are included.

The Three Bedroom Beachfront Villas are located beyond Rocky Point (a landmark spit of land on Parrot Cay's beach) are known as Rocky Point, Lucky House and Dhyani House. They're all privately owned houses forming part of Parrot Cay Estate. Available to rent, they share the resort's relaxed-contemporary style. These houses are all about space, bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a living and dining area, a large sundeck with private pool and outdoor dining area as well as direct access to the sand. The properties include extra services including a butler and WiFi.

The Five Bedroom Main Residence and its two three-bedroom guest villas can be rented individually or together; they are positioned a seven-minute buggy ride from the resort. Each features white and teak bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms, a spacious living area, a vast sundeck, large pool and direct beach access.

Belonging to one of our most valued guests, The Residence is defined by its sense of total privacy. The master bedroom in the main house covers over 1500 square feet. For larger parties the complex is ideal because of the privacy afforded by The Residence's self-contained design.

The Sanctuary is a unique beach property at Parrot Cay Estate is made up of two houses each with four bedrooms rented as one unit. Each features a second floor master bedroom with 360-degree ocean views, plus three other ensuite bedrooms. This is a private house, belonging to Donna Karan, and reflects the homeowner's eclectic world travels with unbeatable antiques, all of which contribute to the eminently peaceful spirit of this special property. A chef and two butlers come with The Sanctuary.

Some guests find their own stretch of beach; others prefer to relax around the resort's main swimming pool. There is a watersports centre and two floodlit tennis courts, a fully equipped gym, a 5000 sq ft infinity pool, as well as trails snaking through the undeveloped back country.

The library features a formidable book collection, as well as pool tables, internet terminals, a satellite television and Playstation consoles. A hotel boutique sells a carefully edited selection of gifts as well as holiday necessities like hats and sun lotion.

There are two restaurants
The Lotus is an easygoing al fresco poolside eatery with open kitchens for lunch and dinner. Guests come and go in simple sarongs and flip-flops. Ideal for families, you can graze while the kids play in the pool.

Salads include yellow fin tuna takaki, seaweed salad and ponzu dressing. Other Asian-inspired dishes range from steamed blue cod, chilli, lime and coriander to Balinese-spiced mahi-mahi.

The Terrace has both indoor and outdoor tables, serves breakfast and dinner. As with all Parrot Cay's dining experiences, menus are presided over by Executive Chef Daniel Moran.

For breakfast, enjoy fruit, breads from our bakery, blueberry hotcakes or buttermilk pancakes. We offer healthy alternatives from the COMO Shambhala menu, including crunchy homemade muesli and our popular energy-giving smoothies.

Italian-inspired dinner menus present innovative combinations. Dishes might include ricotta gnocchi, sea scallops, sautéed wild mushrooms, asparagus and parmesan shavings, or sautéed mussels in spicy tomato and Italian sausage sauce.

Dishes like grilled conch, spicy mango and peanut relish strike a local, Caribbean note alongside that sweet Turks and Caicos favorite, spiced banana fritters with banana ice cream. Easy lunchtime dishes include burgers, salads and pastas.

The room service menu, available from noon until 11pm daily, includes healthy salads, indulgent deserts and familiar western-style dishes like pizzas, bagels, burgers, sandwiches and pastas.

For a refreshing taste of local seafood, we offer coconut cracked conch with lime mayonnaise, spicy tuna sushi roll with wasabi and pickled ginger, or seared striped sea bass salad.

Other island activities at Parrot Cay Resort include: diving (among the world's top 10 sites), deep-sea fishing, windsurfing or catamaran sailing. There is also a fully equipped gym with free weights and cardio-vascular machines. Or island-hop with a visit to Iguana or Sand Dollar.

Resort Notes:
Three nights minimum stay is required. Rates include full American breakfast and transfers from/to Providenciales Airport on commercially scheduled flights, non-motorised watersports, daily yoga (except Wednesday) and daily Pilates (except Tuesday). Non-scheduled flight arrivals will incur transfer charges to and from Parrot Cay Resort.
