Grace Bay Club lacks four-star resort quality. Visited: January 2007 |

Just because you pay a four-star prices, don't expect four-star quality.
The beach, rooms, grounds and restaurants are lovely. However, service - such as timely cleaning, beachside service, and the front desk attention - is lacking. |

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon at Grace Bay Club, and we were totally blown away.
This was a top notch resort with top notch service. They had an absolutely gorgeous beach, with beach service and the friendlist staff we have ever met. O'Brien, Hans, Awet, Carol, and the entire staff went above and beyond.
You will not be dissappointed here. And if you are, they will make it right. We can't say enough great things about Grace Bay Club. We will be back for many anniversaries to come. |

This was the best vacation ever! Visited: June 2005 |

We just got back from what was the best vacation ever! The service was incredible, the staff was very friendly and funny, and the food was totally amazing.
Carol, at the front desk, made us laugh all day, and Chris brought us sorbet and fruit on the beach without us even asking! Nikhel, the general manager, was very charming and always around - I had never met such a great manager before!
There was also a wonderful restaurant by the ocean - very romantic and perfect for a special night. Our suite was incredible. We enjoyed having the blue ocean right at our feet.
I wish I could call this place home - but if we can't, we'll be back again and again! |

Grace Bay was amazing. Visited: February 2005 |

We just returned from what can only be described as a fabulous vacation. The Grace Bay Club was everything we had desired. It was beautiful, elegant, friendly and relaxing.
I had read several undesireable reviews on here before we left, and I must say I was quite skeptical. I have nothing but positive things to report. From start (airport transfer) to finish every attention to detail was paid.
The suite was lovely with two large bathrooms, enormous kitchen (for a hotel) and beautiful ocean views. The maid service (twice a day) was wonderful. The beautiful touches in the room (especially on Valentine's day) did not go unnoticed.
The staff at the hotel was friendly, but not intrusive. Shamika, at the desk, was very helpful with dinner reservations (and they would shuttle you to and from each night.) Carlos, on the beach, had my chair ready with extra towels as soon as I came down each morning. They brought Evian, fruit skewers and ice cream during the day.
The breakfast buffet was nice, the muffins were the highlight. And Beverly was such a friendly face each morning.
The beach was gorgeous! A great part of the success must be attributed to the hotel manager (Nikkeel). He was a huge part of the feeling of the hotel and was the most charming manager I ever have come in contact with. He always had a smile and always greeted us by name. I would hate to see the resort without him there.
We had a truly amazing week at a first class resort! |

We can't wait to return to the Grace Bay Club! Visited: October 2004 |

This property was a gem. It was small and intimate, and they offered an incredible level of service. There was a true sense of privacy and relaxation. We've stayed at five-star resorts around the world, and this property could go toe to toe with any one of them.
We stayed here during the last week of October, 2004 and everything was perfect - the room, the beach, and the staff.
The large, clean, well furnished suites had sweeping views of the ocean, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and living room, and huge verandas overlooking the ocean. Twice daily maid service was a great plus.
The staff (from the hotel manager to the reception area) couldn't have been any friendlier (without being intrusive). And they truly catered to our every need. One kind gentleman even fixed my sunglasses!
The beach was gorgeous, with powdery, white sand that stretched for miles in each direction. We thought it was one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, if not the world. The staff brought guests Evian with their beach chair and towel. Also, each afternoon, complimentary, home-made sorbet was delivered to us on the beach or at the pool. The afternoon tea was just lovely, and a welcome break from the sun.
Anacaondo, the restaurant, was phenomenal. Breakfast each morning there was a large buffet with many options, including fresh fruit, fresh baked pastry and yogurt. Dinner was also divine, a true culinary delight. The staff remembered our preferences and briought us what we needed without even having to ask.
The hotel also ran a complimentary shuttle to restaurants and resorts in the area, and provided complimentary service to and from the airport. We can't wait to return to the Grace Bay Club! |

This place was paradise on earth. From the service and the food, to the suites and the beach - everything was perfect!
They provided complimentary sorbet and Evian water on the beach. Plus, they had the friendliest staff - amazing!
We will be back for sure! |

We were very disappointed. Visited: January 2004 |

We chose this hotel because we like to stay at "small luxury hotels". But for the price they charged per night, it was a big disappointment. Service and food were mediocre at best.
The suite was large and spacious, but the layout of the suite was really quite odd. They had a very comfortable bed in where the sitting area should be and the couch up on a second floor, which no one would use. So to watch the TV, you always had to be on the bed.
They really need to teach the staff to be a bit more warm, friendly and helpful. Instead, they made us feel like we were bothering them because they were too often standing around talking to each other. |

The beauty and the food! but the rooms and service? Visited: September 2003 |

We stayed at Grace Bay Club for 4 nights. The draws were we had never been to Turks & Caicos, it was a secluded beach resort, and the restaurant looked good. We generally stay at Four Seasons and the like, and understand smaller resorts have an economic challenge of fewer rooms to generate revenue.
The beach on Grace Bay is beautiful; and the exterior of the hotel promises a very pleasing stay. The interior is a disappointment. Overall the rooms are comparable to an all-suites business hotel. On the plus side, the sheets were wonderful, the TV and DVD modern, and the terrace furniture really nice. On the other hand, the bathrooms were very cheap, the paint was poor, especially on shelves where you are meant to place clothing, the furniture also so-so, and the kitchen utensils/cookware from a garage sale.
The restaurant, Anacaona, has a nice setup… open to the outside with various seating areas/views. We don’t attempt to compare meals in remote locations to those of major cities, as it isn’t a fair comparison. We thought the food was excellent for the Caribbean. The wine list was also excellent, and offered some decent values. Service was mixed…. ranging from an excellent waitress who was friendly and wanted us to be happy, to others who didn’t seem to care and thought they were doing us a favor. Overall pricing seemed fair for the quality. The continental breakfast was nice, so we didn’t try the menu. The adjoining bar was good, and better when a band was playing. Room service was fine, although often late and no interest in picking up when we were done.
Overall service could be described as either discreet or fair/poor, depending how you like to be treated. In general, problems with room service and the room were handled very slowly, although it is difficult for resorts with 15-30 rooms to excel. There is little in the way of service around the pool or at the beach, so you may have to trek over to the bar for cocktails.
Although not part of our rating, the island itself is not a draw. We rented a Jeep to explore, and found little of interest. There is no natural beauty to speak of, with no elevation and sparse fauna. The roads are horrible, and many lead to areas where the local population discards their trash. Those who like to shop or eat-out will also be disappointed. We did take the opportunity to play Provo Golf Club, which was rather unexciting, but fun nonetheless.
In conclusion, we did enjoy our trip very much, but did not think the resort was good value for money, and in now way can it be compared to larger 5 star resorts in the tropics.

Lovely property, but a severe service problem. Visited: January 2003 |

We just returned from our vacation at Grace Bay Club and were somewhat disappointed. Over the past 10 years I've visited some of the most luxurious properties the Caribbean has to offer. After researching the hotels in Turks & Caicos, it seemed as if this was the pinnacle choice of luxury properties on the island, which now makes me believe my research was not thorough enough.
When we arrived to Grace Bay the initial greeting was pleasant and professional. It seemed as if we were in for some serious pampering, but soon we were surprised. The service was inconsistent and unprofessional. We began noticing this at first from the receptionists who were very non-accommodating and quite unpleasant—very short on the phone (almost like we were bothering them). On two mornings we did not get our wake up calls. We had to call for breakfast, which was late twice and we got a very rude response when we called to see if it was on its way. When we ordered room service more of the same attitude was displayed. They actually sent a hamburger and fries without the catsup! How could a hotel charging what they charge possibly do that? By the time they got the catsup to the room the food was cold.
One morning breakfast was delivered to the room and left on the counter instead of being placed on the dining room table as they previously did the other mornings. I would not have cared as much until I found out I was being charged $15 per person to have continental breakfast sent to the room. I thought that it was included. Also the bathroom amenities were not replenished daily, which in most 5-star hotels is a no-brainer.
On a good note the beach service was good and we loved the spa. However, given the hefty price tag that goes along with a luxurious property such as this one, it needs a lot of refining of its staff and overall servicing of its guests. When staying in a world-class hotel, one deserves world-class treatment.

Paradise found! Visited: May 2001 |

After a great deal of research, my husband and I got married at Grace Bay Club in November of 1999. We could not have imagined a more beautiful, romantic and memorable day.
The staff (Adelphine, in particular) did everything for us, from arranging for the minister to making my bouquet. Everything was perfect. So perfect in fact, that we could not wait to return, and did so in May of 2001. Our stay was just as wonderful. The rooms were beautiful and spotless, with everything we could want. We occasionally cooked in the suite, which had a very modern kitchen, and ate at the table on our patio, listening to the ocean waves just a few yards away.
The staff was wonderful. The restaurant was as good as any I've been to. We really couldn't find anything at all to say about Grace Bay Club that was anything less than great! It was pricey, true, but you get what you pay for, and for a special vacation, I can't imagine anything better than Grace Bay Club. |

An overrated hotel on an unimpressive island. Visited: March 2001 |

We were disappointed with this hotel. What was represented as a top of the line, luxury destination turned out to be the equivalent of a B- quality condo complex. For the price, we found it to be extraordinarily expensive, not a good value.
The rooms (actually we had a 2 bedroom apartment) were very clean but basic. The beach was long but under rapid development and relatively crowded. The bright spot was the restaurant which always seated us promptly and had good service and pretty good food. Not the superior cuisine we would have expected. The service at reception and check out was reasonably efficient, but rather cool.
All in all, it was a mediocre vacation with an astounding price tag. The hotel is heavily promoted as a romantic, high-end honeymoon destination. I think someone looking for that at Grace Bay would be very disappointed. |

I have reservations about the Grace Bay Club. Visited: December 1969 |

I have not even checked in yet, and my experience thus far has all been negative by the ethics and attitude of the reservation staff.
I booked a junior suite three months ago (that their website indicated was over 1,000 square feet). I learned this week that it is a suite of only 600+ square feet.
The attitude of their staff seems surly and indifferent. Why do they have a 4.5 star rating? |
