Blue Horizon was simple, gorgeous, isolated and serene. Visited: July 2004 |

We stayed at the Blue Horizon Resort for a few nights in July 2003 after getting married in Provo. Middle Caicos had an entirely different feel from Provo; it was mostly undeveloped and much more rustic.
There were no tourist bars or restaurants on the island, so if you are coming here looking for a scene or fancy places to eat, it won't impress you. But if you like private, secluded beaches and quiet evenings watching the sunset, Middle Caicos is absolutely perfect.
Provo seems to have gotten a bit too big for its britches, and while beautiful, you don't ever have the beach to yourself there. The Blue Horizon Resort was family-run, and clean and simple. The villas were just steps away from Dragon Cay, which was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The villas had a well-stocked kitchen (you will need to bring your own food, as there was no grocery store on the island).
Also, bring a fantastic book, some good CDs, and enjoy the bliss of this magical, quiet place. And say hello to Smiley the potcake for us. |

If you are looking for nightlife, this is not the place. The diving, snorkeling and fishing here are hard to beat.
The villas are very clean and the people are easy to get to know. If you require some night plan, you are a 12-minute flight to Provo or a 22-minute flight to Grand Turk.
The beauty of the various sites on Middle Caicos make it a relaxing experience. I have even bought a lot here. |

This was the best secluded beach vacation. Visited: March 2003 |

Blue Horizon provides one-room cottages facing the ocean with furnished kitchens and screened porches.
You can sleep with the doors open and listen to the waves break, and take hikes along miles of beach trails and never see a soul. There is so much beach combing, you need a trailer to haul it home! It is beautiful, out of the ordinary and not a tourist trap. There are no phones, no Internet, no TV. It was the most relaxing trip I've ever taken.
The closest settlement is about three miles away. You can get a decent meal at Daniels Cafe, buy island crafted baskets from the Middle Caicos Co-op, rent a bicycle or car, buy basic supplies and meet some very friendly people. |
