I came back to find the atmosphere did a 180. Visited: February 2008
Posted by kmc8
This was my fourth (and final) time at Club Med Turks. It used to be a great place for fun, young, singles. I brought a friend with me - it was her first time - and was actually embarrassed about how much I had talked up how much fun we would have when we arrived.

The guests were much older - retirement and above - and overall most were couples. Afternoon pool volleyball with drinking was replaced by 70-year-old women moving your towel and book to another chair while you get up for five minutes.

While I have much respect for the elderly - this was not the Turks that kept me coming back for more. There were not that many singles in their 20s and 30s at all. Everything seemed slower and duller.

This was God's paradise. Visited: November 2007

Club Med Turkoise was awesome. The people, the food, and the whole atmosphere of the place was out of this world.

Being from the great white north (Canada), the only white we see here is snow. The beatiful white sand beach was breathtaking.

Also, the GOs were fantastic. Even the locals made us feel right at home.

I am looking out my window, and we received 30 cm of snow since last night. It's going to be a long long winter. I am going back next November for sure!

I loved Club Med Turkoise! Visited: May 2007

Everything about this resort was wonderful. The food was great, and the staff was amazingly nice. I loved every bit of my vacation.

The rooms were beautiful, and so were the beach and the pool. What was also great about the resort was the fact that it was never over crowded at the pool or the beach.

My friends and I enjoyed ourselves so much, that we plan on coming back asap. This was truly paradise. I would recommend this resort to everyone!

Club Med rocks! Visited: November 2006

If you just want to have a great time and have a lot of fun, you will enjoy Club Med. I loved playing volleyball at the beach, and playing water polo in the pool.

It is not a new place, but I have found that a good vacation depends on the people. The many Canadians, New Yorkers, Swiss, Californians, etc. we met here were great. I hope to come back for a Club Med reunion this spring.

The diving is early, so don't pay until you know that you can leave the dancing early and not hung over. Some nights we danced until 1:30 am, or 3:00 am it was great. Enjoy your trip, and have a "Katie 2 drink" - it's a goodie.

I was blown away. Visited: February 2006

I came here for the first time for two weeks, and I was very impressed. If you are outgoing, love to meet new people, and want to try all the sports and excursions available, then definitely come here. I was a single woman on my own, and I never felt uncomfortable, even with the attention paid me by GOs and GMs alike.

The food was fantastic, and if people find the selection boring, I guess they need to stay at five-star resorts more often. I loved the food.

Turkoise was about having fun and getting out there and doing it. Hey, they taught me scuba and tennis, and helped me improve my French. Thanks to Eyal and Remy, Chefs de Village et Sports.

This was a taste of Paradise. Visited: January 2006

Being my second time to Club Med in Turks, I found a change in atmosphere in that the party atmosphere I expereinced is now mostly a memory. Now you'll find a more upscale and gentler lifestyle. Gone are the unpredictability and fun we enjoyed in the past.

The property itself is fantastic, and the beach speaks for itself - incredible. Unfortunatley, the food has also declined to a bland and tasteless variety.

This is my paradise! Visited: December 2004

This is the one and only place I want to be during all my holidays. And once again, Club Med gave me the time of my life.

I came back just one week ago, and during the past few days I've been missing Club Med so much. I miss doing the trapeze every day from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. I miss the "fantabulous" food that I would gorge myself with during meal times.

I also miss the powdery white sand that my feet would just sink into, the fun pool games that we'd play at noon, the funny shows that the GOs would put up at night at 9:30 pm, and playing pool at the disco area. I miss Club Med!

This was my fifth time going to Club Med, and I'm still missing it as much as I did when I went for it the first time.

Club Med is definitely a place you don't want to miss out on. Go have fun at Club Med!

We're tired of Club Med. Visited: November 2004
Posted by barbarainjersey
This was our sixth Club Med visit, and I guess we are just tired of the same food (lunch and breakfast) and the same routine. I will say the beach and water were beautiful.

We went out to eat three of the seven nights we were here, and it was great to get away and eat by ourselves.

I had a problem with one of the GOs, and that did ruin the trip. The worse part was that no one seemed to care, not even the man in charge.

If you're new to Club Med, you will enjoy this place. I wonder if anyone else who has been to many Club Meds are also getting bored and tired of them.

It was like summer camp! Visited: October 2004
Posted by jebediah77
I just came back from my trip to Club Med and miss it more than I thought possible. My trip was one of the best trips I have taken.

Although the accommodations at Club Med were slightly lacking, they served their purpose. What I mean by that, is that the rooms had the bare minimum....no frills whatsoever.

The food was varied and decent. I am not a picky eater and was able to find something tasty each night, but my friends were not as flexible and had a tough time. When all else failed, that white chocolate bread rocked.

The GOs were one of my favorite parts of the trip. They went out of their way to get us involved and always made sure everyone was having a good time. My two favorites had to have been Sebest, the Animator and Brian, the water aerobics instructor. Sebest dressed up as various things from a cow, to the Turkacell Rabbit and a mosquito, and never stopped making me laugh.

Brian was - simply put - a delight to watch from afar. He didn't know it, but I had hours of entertainment just listening to the girls around the pool talk about how hot he was and watching them hang on him. It was most enjoyable. Poor guy ...life must be tough! At least he got me off my raft and exercising!

Crazy signs (coordinated dance routines you will learn) were lots of fun....everyone did them and we all made fools of ourselves....but we laughed the whole time. It was lots of fun.

One last thing I feel compelled to add is to bring bug spray. If you are prone to bites, buy the strongest OFF you can find. I got eaten alive by mosquitos with bug spray. It was not fun. All around though, it was a great trip that I would recommend to anyone.

I won't go again. Visited: September 2004
Posted by bleach44_2000
My husband and I were at Club Med, and I want to add that we are in our early 40s. Even though the beach was beautiful and the water was clear and perfect, we just would not go again.

We found night time to be very boring - the only thing there was loud music. We also got tired of the same food. There were some things different, but it was mostly the same.

We are not "old" people and we like to have fun, but at night there was nothing to do after dinner. The shows were nice, but were over before 10:00 pm and we were not ready to sleep! So, we just sat on a chair by the beach after 10:00 to relax. But that was boring for seven nights!

All the reviews seemed to love the GOs, but we found a lot of them to be rude! At least we gave Club Med a chance.

GOs seem to be very friendly! Visited: March 2004
Posted by sam1
I visited Club Med Turkoise with a friend in March. This being my thirrd visit to the island, I decided to try a new resort. We are both in our late 20s, so I thought Club Med was a good spot for us.

The GOs were very friendly - very friendly if you get my drift. After the second day, we joked about how they have quotas to meet for hooking up with guests.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not a prude, but it was annoying after the the fifth GO tried to pick me up. I was also not the most attractive girl there so I can only imagine what the beach beauties went through.

Attention is nice, but when you're trying to have a conversation with your friend and a stranger comes up behind you and places his hand on the small of your back and gives you a "How you doin?", it can get a little uncomfortable. It was just a little too blantent for my taste. That being said, here are the good points.

The food was excellent. Derek is one of the chefs, and I must say out of all the GO's I met, he was suprisingly refreshing. Everyone else seemed to "put it on" for the guests sake and he actually seemed like a genuinly nice guy.

Allesandro was the main chef I believe. He was also very nice. There was always a great spread for lunch. We didn't make breakfast too often but when we did, it was good. Choices ranged from healthy to clogged artery dishes - something for everyone.

We only had dinner at the resort one night. This was due to the seating arrangements. I don't mind dining with people I don't know once in a while if it's crowded, but 70% of the tables were empty and they would sit us with a bunch of people who didn't even speak our language.

My feeling is this - if I am paying for a vacation, I think I should be able to choose where I sit when I eat.

We went to various restaurants on the island. Anacona is a must. It was a five-minute walk on the beach and the food was incredible, as was the open air bar. The service was unparalleled and the setting was just beautiful. Of course, you get what you pay for, but it was worth every penny.

We also visitied Aqua Bar in Turtle Cove. This was also excellent and not as pricy as Anacona, but you need a cab to get there. Also, if you do order a cab from Club Med, do not use their services.

We decided one night to use Virgil's Taxi and tour. This was $8.00, as compared to Club Med's taxi of choice which was about $20.00 for the same distance. Do use Virgil. He was great and recommended another resort - the Royal West Indies. I stayed there in May. Also will post review for that.

If you are young and want to party, go to Club Med. If you like a choice, stay some place else.

The beach was to die for, though.

This was the Club Med vacation of a lifetime. Visited: December 2003
Posted by mel_code
My visit to Club Med Turkoise was awesome. The variety of activities offered was great, everything from sailing or diving to the trapeeze.

The GOs made sure I had a great time and I have to say thank you to Al from New Jersey who taught me to sail.

The food was one of the best features, you have to try the white chocolate bread, their specialty!

It was such a great vacation I have already booked Club Med Cancun for 2004.

Stay at Club Med - it is wonderful. Visited: December 2003
Posted by mel_code
I went to Club Med to get away from the real world time and to go diving. I was suprised to find a resort that offered so many activities, shows and sports, followed by dancing the night away by the pool.

The beaches, ocean and GOs were awesome. And I have to say a special thanks to Al from NJ for adding to my stay and teaching me to sail.

If you want the holiday of a lifetime, Club Med Turkoise is the place to go, whether a single or a couple.

Thank you to everyone at Club Med!

It was so much fun! Visited: August 2003
Posted by a1
I went to get away from things for a week and wanted to try out something new and exciting.

If you want the best of both worlds, watersports and beautiful beaches during the day and partying with the GOs at night, this is definitely the place to go. There are things to do all day long, if you're a beach bum or a sports fanatic.

The GO team isn't quite as enthusiastic as last year, but they are all still so much fun - especially David and Ryan from the Scuba team. Thanks guys!

It is an ocean paradise. Visited: July 2003
Posted by jncalm
My wife and I stayed at Club Med Turkoise and had a very enjoyable time.

The beaches were among the best in the world! The water was warm and clear, and the sand was smooth and almost white in color. This was a "beach person's" paradise. Diving and snorkeling were excellent as well.

The food at Club Med was very good with lots to choose from at extensive lunch and dinner buffets. There were numerous sports activities with specialized instruction, and evening entertainment that was most enjoyable.

Club Med was in a prime location in Turks and Caicos, being one of the first resorts to locate in the island. The accommodations were basic but very clean. The rooms could use some renovations to add to the overall comfort.

The sun in the summer can be very dangerous, so proper shade and sunscreen is essential. Club Med could provide more beach umbrellas to its guests. Overall, it was a great location for water, beach, diving and snorkeling enthusiasts.

Everything was wonderful! Visited: July 2003
Posted by vagello
I just came back from and Club Med and I am missing it already. I went with my boyfriend and we had a exceptional time. Everything and everyone was wonderful. Paul, keep up the good work!

We loved all the GOs and wished to have half the energy they had. They did a wonderful job - they were exuberant, talented and fun to be around! We hope to see them again in the near future.

If you are looking for a vacation filled with laughter, excitement and action, consider Club Med Turkoise as your paradise island. And if you are single, easy going and want to meet people and have a great time, do not think twice.

If you like to snorkle, scuba, sail, party, play tennis and remain active, there isn't a better place.

The only thing I wasn't really happy with was the room. But then again, we were never in our room, so it was nothing to consider or even worry about. As long as you are in a room with AC, a shower and a bed, everything else is useless.

I almost forgot - be prepared to gain a couple of pounds because Eric and his crew were the most outstanding chefs.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time and we want to thank everyone in Club Med for making it happen.

This Stella got her groove back! Visited: June 2003

I can't wait to go back. I went during singles week, and it was the time of my life. Forget about room comforts, because the true experiences took place outside of the room.

The meals were fantastic - fresh seafood, pasta al dente, desserts (enough said). Activities were endless - excursions, snorkeling, sailing, wind surfing, dance lessons, contests. The sports opportunities were abundant with body sculpting, strip- aerobics, basketball, water volleyball, tennis, golf, etc. Also, the beach and water were paradise.

There were also fun themes every night and fantastic music in the disco and at Sharkie's. The crazy signs were invigorating. The local animals were too cute. Jo Jo the dolphin (big show off), and the staff in reception, the bar and other areas made this stay worthwhile. I cried when I had to go. I'll be back!

not where decent couples should spend money Visited: May 2003

The rooms were set up like dormitories in college. The food was served buffet style and there was no wairess service. You would think that all that money you could at least get that. The slot machines were broken and i never had so many mosquitoes bite me.The best advise I could give you is if your looking for a unforgettable vacation for you and your husband don't go there.

Major Disappoinment Visited: April 2003
Posted by qias2003
My third visit to this Club Med resort (March 31- April 7) was a major disappointment. Club Med had no control over some of the factors that
caused this; they did over others.

The trip was defined by weather and war. The weather was lousy.
Cool and very windy early in the trip, although it did warm up. The war
was a factor because many Americans weren't traveling. A long-time staff
member said she had never seen the resort so empty, with so little
energy.

As legendary Chef de Village "Hammer" has noted, when conditions are bad, that's when GO's really have to work hard to make their guests feel
welcome. The current Chef de Village of Turkoise, Paul Langas, must have been sleeping during that portion of the Club Med training program. His GO's were the laziest, rudest bunch I've ever encountered in my dozen trips to various Club Meds. One GO made no excuses. She noted that she was "just marking time" until she was being rotated to her next Club.

Then there was the matter of the air conditioning. It failed in the
D, E buildings. We went to the front desk, and they said it was repaired. But for the next three nights, the temperature in the room was suffocating and we couldn't open our windows because of the mosquitoes. I don't blame Club Med if the repair people couldn't do the job quickly. But I am angry at Paul Langas for taking the
"if-we-don't-tell-them-perhaps-they-won't-notice" approach. He could
have at least explained the problem during the evening shows.

On a larger scale, this village is in need of a major facelift. While they have done work here-and-there over the past few years, the buildings seem worn and run down. There are holes in the floor of the aerobics room. And the dance floor by the bar has the atmosphere of a high school gym (what happened to the computerized lighting that was there a year earlier?).

Perhaps all GO's, and Paul Langas in particular, could take a lesson from Marcel, the long-time Club Med staffer who runs the small restaurant on the property. He realizes that people look forward to something special when they eat at his place, away from the large dining rooms. He's courteous, greets people with a big smile and even laughs at his guest's not-so-funny jokes. He treats people with respect.

Perhaps it was just a bad week. Perhaps Club Med's managerial ineptness and fiscal woes are affecting the morale at the Village level. Whatever the case, I would not recommend Club Med Turkoise until there are changes.

A Let Down Visited: March 2003
Posted by cjh4q
Club Med Turkoise is a sub-par resort. While the beach is absolutely beautiful, probably one of the nicest I have ever visited, due to the terrible food, poor service and accommodations I will never stay at a Club Med Resort again nor would I recommend it to any of my friends.

Positives - There are great beaches, great sailing instructors and it is not too crowded. We never had to wait inline for any of the activities. The shows that were interactive with the audience were quite funny. The Circus/Trapeze show was also quite entertaining. The BBQ beach excursion is amazing, though an outside company runs it. We spent the day out on a boat, snorkeled in several areas around the islands, dove for lobsters and then grilled the fresh lobsters on the beach.

Negatives - The rooms are sparse, outdated and the beds are uncomfortable. The bathrooms have no ventilation. The food is cafeteria style and borderline inedible. There are constant flies in the cafeteria and all over the food. The Grill, an optional restaurant, is a better alternative for dinner. The shows that were not interactive with the audience were terrible. The plays were both uninteresting and poorly executed. The staff is only slightly helpful at most. Simple questions or requests were met with attitude. We were asked to lie on our scuba release forms in order to avoid seeing the scuba doctor. This seemed odd for a dive center that prides itself on safety. When one of the group actually needed to see a doctor in the infirmary, the doctor/nurse was nowhere to be found, though the infirmary was scheduled to open 20 minutes before we arrived. We had to ask the reception desk to call the doctor three times. She was diagnosed with extreme sun poisoning and told to drink plenty of water. We then went to the bar to get water – at which point the bartender refused to give us more that one bottle at a time despite having sun poisoning. I should mention that we also purchased the open bar band, which should have given us unlimited drinks.

Despite some of the shows, the nightlife is ok. The music at the disco (which is really just the bar by the pool augmented by some music) is mainly techno. The foam party was a blast.

If you would like a great meal I suggest walking down the beach to Anacaona. The food there is absolutely amazing. Be sure to make a reservation before you go.

In general, I didn't think that the resort was worth the money we paid to go. I have stayed at much nicer (in terms of accommodations, service and food) all-inclusive resorts for competitive prices. I would definitely return to Turks and Caicos, I will however stay somewhere else.
