The Windmills Plantation

The Windmills Plantation is a small luxury hotel on the beach front on Salt Cay, Turks and Caicos Islands, famous for its diving and donkeys. Divers go to Salt Cay for the sheer coral walls, historic wrecks and a chance to see whales. Donkeys come over when they can no longer stand the frantic pace of Grand Turk.

The hotel consists of only 8 rooms on a 2 ½ mile deserted white sandy beach--a peaceful, quiet, friendly island with about 60 inhabitants….the way the Caribbean used to be. Donkeys and cows roam the sandy roads and most folks drive golf carts or bicycles. Evidence of this once vibrant salt producing island is seen in the old Salinas, crumbling stone ruins and the great houses of the salt barons.

The Windmills Plantation also boasts a first-rate restaurant and bar. It merges quaint accommodations and five-star cuisine with the charm of a remote island getaway.
