Q: We are staying on the island of St. John for one week in December for our 35th Wedding Anniversary. We are flying out of St. Thomas, so we decided to spend an extra night on the island of St. Thomas. Could you please give us a few suggestions for a great hotel for us to stay at that would make our last evening SPECIAL and that is close to the airport? Answer

A: The hotels close to the airport are actually not so ideal. I would recommend the Marriott - it's about a 15 minute drive to the airport, depending on what time of the day you leave. With traffic it may take you 20-25 minutes to get there. Other hotels are the Holiday Inn which is an 8-10 minute drive away. The Ritz is top notch but it is on the east end of the island which is a 45-55 minute drive to the airport. Good luck and congratulations!
