Q: I would like to move to the USVI. I would like to work in a resort that would include my room and meals in exchange for pay. Are there jobs out there like that? If so how do I go about finding them? Answer

A: Unless you have a profession such as a doctor it is very difficult to get employment in the islands. I lived on St. Croix and the policy is to hire islanders first even if you are more qualified. If you gain employment at a hotel in the states they may transver you to a St. John property if a position is open. Perhaps you migh try apartment or condo complexes as a live in rental agent/manager. The complex I lived at in St. Croix the couple that managed the property received their apartment as part of their salary.

A: Most hotels hire locals and do not provide housing. There are some, like ClubMed (but not in USVI) that bring in their employees and provide housing. At least an option like ClubMed would get you there and you could learn about housing and other properties. Good luck.
