My husband and I were fortunate enough to experience the beauty of The Green Iguana and the attentive, caring and friendly managers, Gwen and John.
We were staying on the island of St. John for a week prior, and reserved a room for one night at The Green Iguana. I wish it could've been a full week! At least we had the opportunity to spend one night.
On our next trip to the USVI, we'll definitely take advantage of all that St. Thomas has to offer and do so in the tranquil surroundings of The Green Iguana! |

My fiance and I stayed here for two days, and had a great time.
The owners, John and Gwen, were very helpful and friendly. The location was good if you want to walk around the town. However, be aware that St. Thomas itself, in parts, has crime.
That said, we would definitely stay here again the next time we are in St. Thomas. |

The Green Iguana was a great value, providing a very clean room and nice room at a reasonable price.
Our room also had a very nice view of the harbor area. The only problem, as mentioned on some other reviews, was the barking dog who would win awards for persistence. |

This place was a great value for the money spent. It was delightfully tropical, with bananas growing in the courtyard. It was located right next to Blackbeard's Castle, and had ready access to a great walking tour.
The view from our balcony was the right side of the harbor. Its location was a short walk from downtown. In addition, the hosts were delightful and very accommodating. |

When we had a family emergency and had to change our reservations, Gwen was flexible and accommodating.
I will definitely recommend this place to friends going to St. Thomas. |

Staying only one night on our trip home from St. John, we found the hotel very convenient. It was also clean, nicely decorated, and the managers were very nice.
Unfortunately, none of us slept well for (even with the air conditioning running!) we heard dogs barking and deep bass music playing all night. |

My wife and I stayed at the Iguana for two days before moving on to a company sponsored five-day event.
The location, views, and cleanliness were great. The Castle, Sky Ride, shopping, 99 Steps were very close by. John treated us as long lost friends.
We'll be back. |

My wife, adult son and I stayed at the Green Iguana for one day and night before taking the ferry to the BVI for our sail. It worked perfectly because we arrived to our boat refreshed after a good nights' sleep.
The Green Iguana was just right for us. It was in a good location, was clean, ad the hosts were hospitable. It was a good value. We will certainly stay here again. |

My husband and son and I stayed here in March of 2009. It was a wonderful vacation.
John and Gwen were wonderful people who made us feel like we were home. The hotel was very clean and well kept, thanks to John and Gwen. It was also in a very good location.
We will be back in near future! |

Sue and Buddy of previous reviews have departed (for health reasons), but John and Gwen are keeping house for now - and what a lovely house it is. It is bright and cheerful, clean to a fault, and a few steps from the heart of town (assuming you like stairs).
It boasts lovely views, and there are lots of roosters to get you going in the morning. If you need anything - ask John or Gwen, and they'll figure it out, and with a smile. I checked prices for other options, and this looks like a bargain. |

My wife and I stayed here for two nights before our sailing adventure and for one night afterward. We would happily do exactly the same thing again.
Buddy and Sue welcomed us, the scenery excited us, and the room wrapped us in cool breezes. We were pleased with all the amenities, in-room coffee, microwave, fridge and other things.
We eagerly await our next opportunity to stay here again in the future.

My wife and I have been visiting St. Thomas for about ten years, and have stayed at a lot of places. After reading the reviews here, we stayed at the Green Iguana.
What a place! It was clean, safe, quiet, and had a great view of downtown. When you book, try for a room with a balcony.
We did get to meet Sue and Bud, and also John when he took over. All of them were very professional. We will stay here again! |

Wow! We stayed at Green Iguana in January 2009 based on reviews in Fodor's and reviews on their website. This was an absolutely fantastic find, and a great value.
We stayed in an efficiency. It was very clean, comfortable, and safe. The room had a balcony overlooking Charlotte Amaile.
We ate or prepared every meal n our kitchen- except one dinner, as we have found Caribbean restaurants to be our primary "money sink" while vacationing there.
We had a rental car to explore the island and find secluded beaches, and the hotel was an easy walk down the "99 steps" to the port after a day of exploring.
The innkeeper, Sue, was a joy (we didn't meet Buddy). She was very helpful with advice and suggestions. The location, value, and hospitality will definitely bring us back. Thanks for a great trip!

The location was great. The views from our balcony were wonderful any time of day!
The hotel was centrally located, and it was easy to reach all parts of the island. The area was quiet and safe.
In addition, our hosts, Buddy and Sue were very helpful and always accommodating. We look forward to returning. |

The Green Iguana lived up to our expectations and more. Sue attended to our every need, even bringing us bananas one day and pumpkin pie with cream another day. She answered all of our questions and recommended restaurants.
The steps were not a problem, though I think we counted about 150 from top to bottom! The location was excellent giving wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.
Free wireless Internet was a bonus.
We would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks, Sue and Buddy!! |

We found the Green Iguana to be a great place to stay. Sue was very accommodating. She went above and beyond by helping us out with our luggage while we were camping. She also saved our skin (literally) by lending us anti itch gel before we were even staying at the hotel. We were covered with no-see-um bites from the first few days of our trip at a beach resort!
There were lots of steps to get back from town. It can be tough with groceries if you don't have a rental car. It can be fun at first, then very tiring after a while. So, I suggest you get a car or stock up with lots of groceries before you stay.
The hotel has parking, and taxis will take you places if you find one. However, at night it's not as easy -and a little scary to get stuck somewhere you were not expecting.
The room was great. The hot water worked in the shower (which isn't the case everywhere). Sue also sells snacks if you find yourself not wanting to go back down those steps to try and find groceries.
The taxi service Sue recommended to get to the airport was prompt, so we had no worries about catching our early morning flight home. Also, she will call them for you.
The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and fresh beach towels are provided every day (if you need them). |

The week we spent at the Green Iguana was absolutely great. Managers Sue and Buddy were extremely helpful in pointing out attractions to see, places to eat, and things to do.
The in-room kitchen helped for quick meals, too.
It was located off of downtown, and was a short walk to shopping and restaurants. The use of laundry facilities at the hotel was also very convenient. It was clean and secure, and was the perfect place to launch out from - regardless of our activities on St. Thomas or the surrounding islands.
We would go back again in a heartbeat. |
