We loved the Cormorant (and the staff).Visited: December 2005

This was the first time we have visited the Virgin Islands. The staff was awesome. I have never been to a more friendly hotel. Julie, the manager, was great - and we loved Jill. Paul, Brianna, and Doreen were the bartenders, and they were nice, as well.
Shane's food was truly awesome, and the front desk staff was very nice. We even met the owners, Harvey and Ann. They were very nice and down to earth. During our last night here, we wanted to try some coconut juice. On her time off, Taber - the head of maintenance staff - went and opened a coconut for us. That was the icing on the cake.
We really enjoyed our stay, and we were impressed with how everyone went out of their way to make us happy.

This vacation was much more than we expected.
The hotel was under new ownership and management. Julie, the manager, was great. The food was good, too.
In addition, the staff was so friendly, and the property was very comfortable. We will be back.

I planned my wedding there. I live on STX and this place has great food but the owners are horrible. FOUR DAYS prior to my wedding, the canceled leaving me scrambling to find a new place. The manager, bartender and cook were the ONLY people capable. The rude and very unpleasant owners are the worst hoteliers in the world! I have been in the business and I have seen bad ones, Cormorant is the worst.
Mr/s Texas hit it on the nose.
Instead, head to Hibiscus next door, better rates and service. The manager Phillis is amazing. These are the people that come out of wood work when things like this happen. Also make sure to head to Bacchus for dinner!
DO NOT GO TO CORMORANT FOR ANY REASON!

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life.Visited: October 2003

I got the Penthouse suite. It leaked, the toilets did not work, the staff was not very helpful, and there was mildew on the lampshades.
Also, the maid left cigarette butts on the balcony, a lot of sand was in the pool, there were broken hammocks and there was a broken net on the tennis courts. In addition, the dangerous rip currents prevented snorkeling from shore. All this, and it was a long cab ride to Christiansted. We left and went to another hotel.

Very poorly maintained.Visited: April 2003

Maintenance is a real problem at this resort. When the air conditioning in our room broke, it was not fixed. We had to stay in three different rooms and the owner refused to discuss the matter with us. I found all of this to be very disappointing.
The swimming pool was dirty and the grounds were in poor shape (light fixtures broken, grass not cut, etc.). There were bugs in the rooms and many appliances either did not work or were in poor working order.

Also, the food is to die for! I'm talking 100% delicious and with reasonable prices!
Arthur and Gregory, you guys have a fantastic place where all are made to feel at home! Thanks so very much!
If you never experienced a wonderful beachfront resort, check out the Cormorant soon. You'll come back again and again!

My partner and I have been here twice in the last two years and can't wait to go back again. The Cormorant exceeded our expectations, the staff was wonderful and the setting was beautiful. After a couple of days, the staff knew what we wanted before we even asked for it.
The food at the restaurant was excellent, as good as any we had at any other restaurant on the island. The bar served up lots of fun tropical drinks, and lots of locals hung out there in the evening to provide more people to meet and talk to.
The owners were great, and were very helpful and fun to be with. It was only a few miles from the town, and the beach was beautiful and deserted. We are planning to return for New Year's.

The accommodations were acceptable but more was expected. Our room was not ready when we arrived but the desk person Dicki made up for it. Make sure
you ask for fresh champagne if you order a mimosa. Don't plan for a quick meal if you eat at the restaurant although the food is very good, especially the Rueben sandwiches, so it's worth the wait.
The view from the room of the beach is awesome. Although the hotel
isn't everything I had expected it is probably one of the nicer and more quaint hotels in the area. Just make sure they don't forget about your complimentary bottle of Cruzan Rum.

As a travel agent I have been to many, many places, especially in the Caribbean. Normally, I stay in true 5-star resorts with all the bells and whistles. I must say that this was a very welcome change of pace, as it is one of the few vacations where we actually felt relaxed.
The owners, Arthur and Gregory, were such gracious hosts, and they truly go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. The staff is super accommodating. The food is fantastic as well as the drinks. Breakfast and lunch is pretty much the same everyday, but the dinner menu changes daily. And the desserts are to die for.
While staying there, I would suggest getting a rental car, so you can move about as you wish, as taking taxis everywhere is a bit costly after awhile. I would also suggest getting some snacks from the local supermarket about 1-2 miles away and keep them in your room.
All in all, after staying here, I can honestly say that I was so impressed, that this will be our retreat of the future. I suppose that is why my fiancé and myself will be back next year to tie the knot!

In the two weeks we were here, we only left the property twice - once for Christiansted (back for lunch) and once for the rain forest and Fredericksted.
We did not eat or drink anywhere else. We received perfect food and service, and enjoyed the best beach front accomodations in the USVI.
We'll be back as soon as we can.

Customer service was 100%. The staff could not be any nicer—very helpful and always greeted you with a smile. Even the owners greeted you everyday, knew you by name and made you feel at home. Roger, the chef, was fantastic! Five stars on the food and the presentation!
Our vacation was everything we wanted and more. We will be back and bring friends with us. It was one week of paradise!

Beautiful beachfront resortVisited: June 2001

Yes, a gay couple owns this resort and the majority of the guests are gay. However, it is very straight-friendly and we did not feel uncomfortable. The owners and staff go out of their way to chat with you, give you recommendations on what to do and where to go, and book all of your excursions for you.
Beach towels, snorkel equipment, blow dryers, and irons are provided for you. The clean rooms are decorated with Caribbean floral prints, wicker furniture, a refrigerator, ceiling fan, and air conditioner. Housekeeping leaves fresh-cut flowers on the dresser daily. There is even a welcome bottle of Cruzan Rum and Cokes waiting for you upon arrival.
The restaurant is open-air seating with shelter above. The breakfast and lunch menu is the same everyday with a wide variety (eggs, bagel/cream cheese/lox, fresh fruits, etc.). The dinner menu changes daily and includes appetizers, pasta (with vegetables olive oil and garlic), fish (wahoo or salmon), beef (roast beef or New York strip), chicken, and rack of lamb. The presentations of the meals are incredible, which are served with a potato of some sort and vegetables. The food is delicious and the portions are large.
The bar is beautiful and serves fabulous tropical drinks. I really can't say enough about the staff. They are so friendly and go out of their way to get to know you.
The beach, as are most beaches in St. Croix, is public—but it is never crowded! The pool is clean and surrounded by lounge chairs. There are two tennis courts, which are always available.

For these two gay men, Cormorant Beach Club is as good as it gets. Wonderful facilities, great friendliness and helpfulness, terrific meals, and perfect weather. If you’re traveling alone, or with your partner, you won't do better than this property.

This will be the third year I will be going back to the Cormorant; it's that good! This resort offers excellent food, a friendly and helpful staff and simply a wonderful place to stop and relax. My partner and I recommend The Cormorant to all of our friends, gay or straight, as the atmosphere is friendly and open. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy this beautiful island, this is THE place to stay.

Excellent true beachfront resort!!!Visited: March 2000

We honeymooned with my new wife at this facility in March of '00. It is a true beachfront resort. Our room was 30 feet from the surf! Rooms are very well kept, clean and comfortable. It was air-conditioned, but we didn't need it. Dining for breakfast and lunch is under a roof but there is open air seating right on the beach. The bar has a true beachfront atmosphere as it too is open air and you can see and feel the ocean spray. Dinner is open air but shielded from the wind. The food for breakfast and lunch is good with a simple but diverse variety. Dinner is magnificent! Menu's change daily with a variety of fish, chicken, beef, pasta, pork and many others. We loved it and didn't go hungry by any means. I really can't say enough about the dinner. This resort is gay owned but very straight friendly. The owners go out of their way to talk with all the guests and are friendly to all. If you want a huge resort with the jetskis and all don't stay here. But if you want beachfront, well kept, friendly owners, good service and a truly relaxing vacation with access to everything on the island stay here.
