This was an excellent resort. The staff was so friendly and personable. The dining was wonderful, too. They had lots of exciting activities for guests to choose from.

If you are planning to visit St. Thomas, this is the place to stay.

Bolongo is a wonderful place to stay! The staff is so nice, the food is outstanding, and the overall atmoshpere is terrific.

Also, for the extra money, the all-inclusive package is the way to go. The Heavenly Days sails are so fun and relaxing, too. This place really makes guests feel at home.

I wanted to give this place 0 stars but thats not an option. We went to Bolongo Bay, thinking that we were going to enjoy a vacation of a lifetime and it certainly was that. The place is outdated and moldy When we got there a man was on our condo deck repairing the railings. The cushions were old and dirty, the bed linens were dirty, there were ants on the refrigerator in the kitchen, there was something floating in the toliets, I could go on and on. They moved us to another room for the night, and then we moved to another hotel for the rest of our stay. When I left the Bolongo, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

4.0 stars These girls wanted to - and did - have fun. Visited: April 2005

My daughter and I had the best “Girls Just want to have Fun” package. We celebrated Rachel’s 25th birthday in grand style. We still dream about the pancakes with rum syrup!

We enjoyed our massages and our private tour of the island. We only left the resort on one occasion to have dinner. The food and the staff at the the resort were just amazing. You cannot get a more perfect setting than having dinner overlooking the pool and the Caribbean.

We totally miss Iggie hanging out in front of our room. We’ve decided Bolongo Beach is going to be our annual birthday gift to ourselves. We felt very safe as the staff knew us by name and always asked if we needed anything or if there was anything they could do to make our stay more enjoyable.

So, girls, if you just want to have fun…stay at Bolongo.

Although the rooms werent 'amazing', the activities were incredible!

There was parasailing and great shopping. Also, swimming in the beautiful pool while getting a drink at the swim-up bar was like being royalty!

5.0 stars Bolongo Bay is a slice of paradise. Visited: April 2005

My wife and I have just returned from a week at Bolongo Bay. It was the best vacation we have ever had.

Our room was immaculate and spacious, and the view from our balcony overlooking the bay was beautiful. The staff was attentive, polite, and went out of their way to insure that we had a great time.

Chef Ric's creations in the Beachhouse Restaurant are incredible; not only were they among the tastiest foods we have ever encountered, the overall presentation of the meals enhanced the dining experience immensely.

Iggie's (the casual bar and grill on site) had good food and drinks, and had entertainment several nights of the week.

The beach was great (cleaned of seaweed daily), the water "toys" were enjoyable, the pool was relaxing, and the atmosphere was beyond description.

Everything was truly top notch. We went all-inclusive, and felt that we got extremely good value for the price. We can't wait to return.

4.0 stars Bolongo Bay offers great staff, view, activities, beach and food! Visited: March 2005

Everything you need for a wonderful Virgin Island vacation is at Bolongo Bay in St. Thomas.

The staff was warm and friendly, and had many activities for all ages. I (a single mom) took my son and daughter (in their 20s), and despite our separate interests, we all had a fantastic, awesome time.

Bolongo Bay had several optional outings, sailings, shopping, Carnival night, sightseeing etc. planned every day.

I could go snorkeling right off the beach and see sea turtles, fish, coral, while my daughter chose to lounge and talk to staff and guests, and we felt safe and secure. My oldest, the son, took diving lessons and became a certified SCUBA diver. The staff actually invited them to visit and accompany them after hours.

A word about their pricing plans - they had an all-inclusive plan, and if we had wanted to do all the activities, and eat and drink abundantly, that would have been a good choice.

The food was excellent at all three resort choices - from grill to fine dining. We did not use that plan and found there were still many included activities available.

The bed was great, as were the pillows (this was important to me-and I found that I wouldn't have had to lug my personal pillow along). I would not say the room itself was five-star, although nice. But the view and staff were five-star.

Also, we had a balcony facing right onto the beach (as almost all the rooms did). The price was great - they were running a special.

Bolongo Bay was everything that I was looking for - safe for me to do things without the kids while they had interesting, high energy activities which they wanted. We even got together one night and sang karoke another night we joined in the congo line. I will go back, my son wants to return, and my daughter wants to work there! Highest praises.

We are counting the days until we return February 10th for the 23rd year in a row.

Bolongo is the most relaxing place to unwind that we have ever found, and we do a lot of world traveling. The staff here is the friendliest, and we consider them a part of our family.

If you want to recharge your batteries, this is the spot!

Bolongo Bay is a wonderful place to stay!

It's a place for young and old, a place that never gets cold.

Whether it's warmth from the sun or from the staff, it's an easy place to smile and laugh!

Dinner and drinks at Iggies every night, enjoying every sip and every bite.

The clear blue water, the white sand, watching the sunset hand in hand.

Palm trees lined up down the beach, we now know paradise is in our reach!

A great room with a wonderful view, a heartfelt thanks to Vernitta and the crew!

Bolongo Bay is our view of heaven, we will be back in 2007!

By then I will be a married man, and will visit Bolongo Bay as often as I can!

I couldn't think of a better way to describe Bolongo Bay and say "thanks" then in a little poem that I wrote on my flight home to Minnesota. We have been home now for two full weeks and we are still talking about it and missing it.

We have our videos and pictures, though, to remind us of what we have told everyone is pure paradise. Bolongo Bay made my first trip to St. Thomas the best week of my life! So, thanks again and we look forward to seeing you all again in January 2007!

I actually stayed at the Condo next to Bolongo Bay, but I had the chance of meeting the owner of Bolongo Bay. He was wonderful, and though we were't staying there, he still made sure we were having a great time. Not to mention, Bolongo Bay is absolutly beautiful!!!

I came here on my honeymoon and had the best time of my life. This was the most relaxed I have felt in my life. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. And our room was nice.

Also, the chef at the Beachhouse Restaurant did an exceptional job every night. I can't wait to go back.

Bolongo Bay is the best. The view and the resort are fantastic.

There is so much to do - including water activities, parasailing, going out on the catamaran, hanging out at Iggie's or the Beachhouse, sun bathing or just enjoying the Rum Punch (which happens to be the best thing ever).

The staff and owners are great. Guests are made to feel totally at home and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting St. Thomas. We are going back soon.

4.0 stars This is a casual, 'laid back' kind of place. Visited: June 2004
Posted by topshelf1
Bolongo was small and casual, and sat right on the beach. It was just what we were looking for, we loved it!

I rated it four stars only because of the beach. For those of you who like swimming, it was very rocky, and water shoes are a must. The beach was very nice for lounging with ample chairs and a few hammocks, though. The snorkeling wasn't too bad, either.

Our room was clean and comfortable: think Days Inn with a Caribbean flair. It had a/c, a ceiling fan, a kitchenette, bathroom with shower stall only and was decorated in bright pastel colors with a tile floor. The best part was that our room, like all rooms, was just steps from the beach.

Both restaurants were open air--Iggie's was a bar and grill kind of place, with a great atmosphere, and many locals came here for happy hour.

The Beach House was a bit nicer--you might want to get out of your bathing suit and into a pair of shorts here. The food was very good and so was the service and the view!

The resort had an activites desk that could set guests up with about anything you could want to do--just ask. They also had shopping shuttles going to town or shuttles going to the other beaches.

We liked Bolongo so much because it was casual and friendly. If you are into fancy 'Ritz-like' accommodations, you might not want to stay here--but for us--it was perfect!

We can't wait to return.

My recent stay at Bolongo (June 2004) was everything (and more) that I wanted out of a vacation.

I spent four nights here with my sister and it was completely relaxing, with overly friendly staff, great food, and beautiful views.

My oceanfront room with a balcony was ideal. The resort was small, but that was what made it so perfect. There was always a lounge chair to lay out on, never a long wait at the bar and the staff remembered us, making us feel very much at home.

The Beach House restaurant served excellent gourmet food; very authentic to St. Thomas and delicious! Iggies Beachfront Grill was casual with a heavenly setting, directly on the beach; beautiful at sunset.

The pool was great, with comfortable chaise lounge chairs surrounding it and a swim up bar, serving first rate drinks. The activities coordinator arranged for us a fabulous day trip to the British Virgin Islands which was wonderful.

My vacation to Bolongo was perfect, I felt like my sole responsibility was to relax! I recommend it to anyone - couples, groups, or families, and I will definitely be going back again.

I have just returned from my fourth trip to Bolongo Bay Resort. With each visit the memories made just get better and better!

We go all-inclusive...the only way to do Bolongo, and you can't go wrong. The food at both restaurants is superb, and the service is top notch!

The staff, from the front desk and housekeeping to bartenders and the waitstaff , is like nothing you find for any amount of money in the world! The Doumeng Family treats you like their own and I even presented them with a plaque this year thanking them for helping to keep my Caribbean soul filled..look for it in the lobby when you visit.

Yes, it is a small resort and has some age on it, but it could not be any cleaner or more beautiful! The rooms are perfect for that laid back island trip that you have always dreamed about. It is so much nicer to be known by name and not a room number!

We booked our trip for next year before we left the resort this time! You will experience a lot of return guests at Bolongo and if this is your first visit, it surely won't be your last!

Also, taxi rides are expensive, but there isn't too much of a reason to leave Bolongo often..there were five of us in the group this year and we only left the resort four times in seven days! Bolongo is the best, and I will never go anywhere else in the Caribbean!

Bolongo Bay was absolutely wonderful. The staff was great...real genuine people. Everyone has a bad day now and then, but not at Bolongo. I have never met a better group of people anywhere I've ever stayed.

The three choices of restaurants on site were all fantastic...I didn't have one bad meal. The Beach House dinners were out of this world.

The semi-inclusive packages Bolongo offers left nothing to be desired. We were so busy with all the extras, we didn't even leave the resort for four days. The events at Iggie's Beach Bar were loads of fun! Bring your camera every time you go...you'll want to remember this place and the people!

I've been on several other day sails at other places, but Bolongo's Heavenly Days catamaran sail was the best by far. The crew pampered us like no other.

Make your next trip to St. Thomas a Bolongo Bay trip. You won't be sorry. I guarantee you won't want to stay anywhere else. I've never been happier with a resort. I'll be going there from now on!

My wife and I renewed our vows on the beach at Bolongo Bay. The staff was incredible - from Mike - who took care of our luggage - through Harry, the amazing bartender - Sergio and Sinbad -all the way to the owners-Richard and Katarina. We had a blast!

This was an incredible facility. I have been over most of the world, and never enjoyed anywhere as much as Bolongo Bay!

This hotel...wait no MOTEL was one of the worst places I have been to. The pictures are extremly deceiving. When i arrived at the hotel I expected a gorgeous villa with beautiful views and a wonderful beach. This hotel did not have that. I stayed one night and during that night I found bugs in the bed and bathroom. That is completly unexceptable. This hotel was all inclusive so I'm guessing everyone who loved had a few too many drinks.

4.0 stars It was not what we were used to, but we enjoyed Bolongo. Visited: March 2004

We were used to staying at more upscale resorts and were initially disappointed with the accommodations. The rooms were very plain and the showers were small. If you are looking for new and upscale accommodations, this is not the place to go. It was more nestled into the surroundings and the furniture in the room was dated.

But, after the first couple of days, we found ourselves placing more attention on the island than our room.

The staff was amazingly friendly and the customer service was great. Every single staff member we encountered made such a great impression on us. We often had the same servers repeatedly in the restaurant and they very often remembered what we had ordered the day before. They really paid attention. It was such a small, family-owned place that the emphasis was on customer service.

The food at the Beach House Restaurant was phenomenal. Ric, the chef, was out of this world. Try the "Goin Bananas" dessert. I had it four times over the course of the week. And, you must try to the Caribbean Lobster entree. I am in withdrawal as we speak.

In any case, by the end of our trip, Bolongo Bay had changed our opinion and our rating raised from about a "two" when we first arrived to about a "four" when we left.

Make sure you take the tours to St. John and see Trunk Bay! Enjoy your time on St. Thomas. It is one of the most beautiful islands we have seen.

We had an awesome time, and got a great value for our money. We just returned from Bolongo and cannot say ennough positive things about the place. Thanks to Aaron and Steph, Richard, Vernita, Leides, Simon and all the crew.

Heavenly Days (both the all-day sail and sunset excursion) was a highlight and "must-dos". Snorkeling, the restaurants, pools, beach - everything was top-rate. The rooms were clean and neatly equipped, and the hospitality was first class. Thanks! We will be back!
