Hotel 1829 - St. Thomas, USVI

Located in the heart of Charlotte Amalie, Hotel 1829 is a charming 19th century Inn built by a French sea captain for his bride. It was designed by an Italian architect in a Spanish motif and constructed with Danish and African labor, quite the international structure! The hotel took over 10 years to build and was completed in 1829, hence Hotel 1829. Modern conveniences have since been incorporated into this National Historic Site and all 14 guest rooms and suites feature air-conditioning, private baths, wet bars and cable television. Many rooms also boast private balconies while others fringe on thesmall pool area.

The Restaurant of Hotel 1829 has long been considered one of the major dining spots in the Caribbean. Dining here is true culinary magic. A must in dining on St. Thomas. There are certainly nicer hotels on St. Thomas but you would be challenged to find one with finer historic charm and ambiance.
