We stayed here because my husband is a kiteboarder, and he wanted to do some kitboarding with some local friends.
The people make this hotel. Forget everything else - even though the rooms and the property are gorgeous - it is the people here. They made our stay memorable, and you can bet we will be back! |

The hotel is a hybrid resort/ed and breakfast. Visited: April 2002 |

This resort is located on a hill above Nazareth Bay to one side and Red Hook to other.
The iguanas amble about freely, which is an extraordinary sight. Our four-year-old's eyes would light up seeing iguanas.
The water is too shallow and the reefs are too close to shore. It is good for kids because the best fish viewing is close to the beach in thigh-deep water, farther out fish volumes are less.
The paddleboating is great. Our four-year-old snorkeled by using a rented boogie board with a window that kept her above water.
We enjoyed the hammocks, and the kids had fun hoppinq in and out of them. The beach is a small sandy area of lots of hotel deck chairs and shady trees, but the part that leads to the ocean is too reefy with a steep dropoff into the ocean. The reefy shallows and presence of nearby sea urchins make wearing water shoes a must.
There are boats that anchor in the bay close to shore which are a pretty sight. Buildings 3 and 4 have the best views, since you can see the twinkly lights of the homes across the bay.
The pool is a must see, it is manicured with beautiful gardens, and a breathtaking cliffside view of the ocean and warm water.
We ate well throughout our stay with tasty vegetarian food easily available. The Marina Market in Red Hook is cheaper than the Food Market store.
We had a refrigerator, and Ernest, the hotel manager, lent us his microwave so we'd have cereal and bagels for breakfast and a veg-cucumber sandwich for a few dinners.
The hotel is a hybrid between a posh resort and a bed and breakfast. It has lovely cliffside rooms in a cluster of adjacent buildings and a beautiful pool and beachfront. It has a functional, not a grand lobby and no concierge.
St. Thomas is like visiting heaven - a trip to paradise. This trip vied with Hawaii for best ever, and we really miss it since coming back.
The daily weather is 85 with sun and mixed clouds. The water is crystal clear, and turquoise blue with 100 percent visibility. The water temperature is okay. It is cold when entering, but you warm up after awhile. |

Quiet, clean, beautiful beach. Visited: December 2001 |

Stayed at Secret Harbour for one week with two teenage boys. We loved the beach and the one-bedroom suite. The snorkeling was excellent and the scuba lessons were professional. Our only complaint was the unfriendly, unprofessional front desk personnel and the menu at the Blue Moon Cafe. On a whole we had an excellent time and plan to return next December. |

Very nice place. Visited: October 2001 |

We stayed here for a week and it was indeed a very nice place to stay. Only small things, made me remove one star from a perfect 5-star rating. It cost you a dollar to call an 800 number. We made 10-12, but they charged us for 25! We only paid for 12, but I do not like the idea that you have to check on these things. Also, since we were on a discount breakfast was not included, and we were not told this until we arrived. I should have been told in advance.
Location is important. The view is beautiful, but you need a car if you choose to stay here—either a car or a taxi. We found taxies very expensive. All in all we had a great time, but everything is very expensive, compared to the U.S. mainland.

The property and grounds were very nice. Visited: April 2001 |

As a travel consultant, I have recommended and spent a lot of time in St. Thomas. My major complaint about the Secret Harbor was the service by the front desk personnel. Me and the people that I traveled with, found them to be unaccommodating, unprofessional and rude. The only saving grace was the General Manager, Ernest. After all, your first impression of a place starts with the front desk! He made amends for his staff and thus our vacation turned out to be pleasant.
I do not have complaints about the facilities, the grounds, or the other staff members. |

A great place to stay! Visited: March 2001 |

After visiting St. Thomas many times, this was our first stay at Secret Harbour. The
location is great and close enough to Red Hook, with its conveniences of the ferry,
restaurants and shops. The property is very well kept. We had a room with wet bar and
refrigerator. The oceanview room was large with a covered balcony and a wonderful view
of the beach.
The swimming pool didn't seem to get used very much, as the beach was much more
inviting. There was also very good snorkeling right off of the beach. The staff was very
courteous and friendly.
The continental breakfast offered each morning at the Blue Moon Cafe was one of the
best I've ever had. Bagels, English muffins, fresh fruit, assorted juices, sweet rolls, and
coffee. The staff at the restaurant was also extremely accommodating.
Each evening there was a different type of entertainment. One night there was a sax player
featured, and another night a steel drummer/singer performed, which was excellent. This
was a great value in an ideal location.

The perfect beachfront resort Visited: January 2000 |

As a preface to this report, I have vacationed on St. Thomas eight times in the last thirteen years. Last year my girlfriend and I stayed at Secret Harbour. This past August we returned for our second stay at Secret Harbour.
SH is a great place to experience the best St. Thomas has to offer. The resort has three buildings right on the beach. Each of these buildings is three stories high. These beachfront suites are literally right on the beach that curves around the harbor. There is also another section up the hill behind the resort that offers great views but loses the beachfront quality.
SH has a wonderful restaurant, Blue Moon Café, on-site. There is also a small boutique and dive shop. A beach bar is right next to the restaurant. A masseuse is available for guests by appointment. There is also a young lady on-site who will custom make swimsuits in a matter of a day or two.
Our one-bedroom suite was made up of a large living/dining area, a fully outfitted kitchen, a nice bathroom and a good-sized bedroom. Maid service is offered daily and was very good both this year and last year. A complimentary newspaper is dropped off daily during the work week.
The staff is stable and extremely friendly. Ernest, the GM, personally greets all guests weekly with a little party at which he sings (kind of a tradition).
All in all, it is a great experience at a reasonable price.

I have been to St. Thomas several times in the past 10 years, but Labor Day Weekend 2000 we stayed at Secret Harbour for the first time. We absolutely loved it.
We had an oceanfront studio that was perfect. We so enjoyed being able to walk right out onto the beach every morning. The crescent shaped beach made us feel as though we were secluded on our own little island.
We loved it so much we went back at the end of October 2000. We had the same great service as before.
We have decided that this is "our" place to go every year. We are going back the 28th of October 2001 for a week. I can hardly wait.
Margaret from the front desk has always been very friendly and accommodating.
