My partner and I have been going to Sand Castle On the Beach for the last five years. We first found the hotel when looking for a quiet, romantic getaway in the Caribbean - one where two adult men in their 40s would feel comfortable. This place was perfect!
It is a small hotel with approximately 20 rooms. It is secluded, and there are other fun couples here (both straight and gay). They also have an open-air restaurant with stunning sunsets, friendly staff, two pools and a beautiful, sandy beach.
We love the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel, and each time we go, we meet really great people from around the world. For us, each day consists of an early swim at the beach and then some type of activity. On this past trip we went snorkeling (right at the hotel's beach), 4-wheel driving with Tan Tan Jeep Tours (with a stop for a swim at a quiet tide pool), did yoga under a magnificent tree on the hotel's property and just lounged around with a book on the hammock. To us, this is what vacation is all about!
We stayed in one of their beachfront villas. It was a large unit with a living room, kitchen, bathroom and private bedroom. These units are our favorite because they are right on the beach, and have a deck with table and chairs giving us front-row seats to the spectacular sunsets each day.
The room was moderately priced in comparison to other hotels in the Caribbean. But unlike other big name hotels, there were not hundreds of guests running around. In addition, the villas here are much more affordable.
They also have an open-air restaurant (Beachside Cafe) - right on the beach. Being from NY we can honestly say that the food here is very good and each year it just gets better! Sunday Brunch is our favorite. You should definitely try one of their Bloody Marys! The price for dinner in St. Croix is very similar to St. John and St. Thomas. In the Caribbean, good food costs a little more - but still cheaper than a typical NY restaurant. It is well worth it given the quality and amount served (we always went home with a doggie bag).
We are looking forward to our next trip. |

It was a small resort. It was very pleasant, with some detached bungalows. It also had a very pretty garden, was right on the beach, and had an attached restaurant.
We booked Sand Castle on the Beach because it was small, quiet and on the water. We found the service here to be excellent, and the restaurant of top quality. The staff was also very pleasant, and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate the guests.
The hotel issues passes and memberships to residents and the cruise ships, so there was a steady stream of interesting people. The locals (usually transplants) were very helpful in helping us find our way around. The owners are right on site, working along with the staff, and were very helpful.
The rooms were open, breezy, sunlit and comfortable (but still private), but not fancy. We were in a small suite that had a kitchenette. It was not luxurious, but it was very pleasant. We were able to prepare meals when we wanted to.
It was also walking distance to Frederiksted, a small town with shops and restaurants. |

Simone and Sheryl are the best hosts! We were looking for a relaxing place, and found it at Sand Castle on the Beach.
The hotel is clean, and the staff is warm. The food is awesome - though the complimentary continental breakfast could use some more options.
Pay the extra for a larger room, because they have kitchens. I also recommend a rental car if you want to get to Christiansted for a night out (as Frederiksted doesn't have as many options and the restaurant is closed on Tues/Wed.). |

Sand Castle on the Beach Resort was perfect. The service, food, accommodations, view and location make this a must!
Get your massage first thing - it is worth it! A car is nice, but not a must. This was a vacation to remember. Thanks to all! |

Our Moderate Garden Room was clean, spacious, with excellent kitchen facilities for eating and "drinking". We enjoyed coffee on our patio with a view of the garden and sea.
The rooms were very private. The staff was very concientious, knowledgable, friendly and helpful. The beach, pools and grounds were well-kept; and the restaurant and bar were casual-elegant, with very good food. All the staff were very nice.
The continental breakfast on the beach was great! This was a relaxing, affordable, beach vacation not just for gay people. We look forward to staying at Sandcastle on the Beach again. |

We had such a great time earlier in the year, we knew we had to return to Sand Castle on the Beach.
Everyone was friendly as ever - and very helpful. They were all happy to see us return so soon.
It was a wonderful hotel by the beach, with two great pools, and the Beachside Cafe served great lunches and dinners. What a way to dine - watching the sunset and listening to the roar of the waves. It was just an awesome place.
We will be returning soon to our favorite hotel in the Caribbean. |

Amy and I had such a wonderful time on our vacation. The Sand Castle was the perfect choice for us - friendly and convenient.
The staff was very helpful providing everything from directions to booking snorkeling trips. The Beachside Cafe served delicious food with an amazing view of the water. Our garden view room was spacious, and we enjoyed having a kitchen at our convenience. Simone and Sheryl were wonderfully gracious hosts.
I have traveled through much of the Caribbean and this is truly the one place I want to return to. We are already planning our next trip! |

We spent 8 days in paradise!! The Sand Castle is a wonderful hotel. Even though it's small in size, it lacks for nothing. Our room was spacious and even had a kitchen. The Beachside Cafe serves delicious food and drinks. The atmosphere that Simone and Sheryl have created is welcoming and friendly. We can't stop talking about it to our friends. We are already planning another trip!! |

We spent ten days at Sand Castle and it was incredible. It was relaxing, unassuming, and casual complimented by friendly staff.
There was a wide variety of rooms to choose from; we appreciated the kitchen and the view from the balcony - a great way to wake up! The front desk staff could answer any questions about the island and recommend the best places to dine, have fun, or go on an adventure - ask them about Buck Island! It would be a good idea to rent a car to explore the island or go to the supermarket.
Thanks to the chef for the amazing food at The Beachside Cafe, and to the servers for great service. We even got a table right on the beach - what a treat!
But the best part was the beach. It was virtually vacant for miles. It was a great walk to the turtle nesting grounds at Sandy Point. The swimming and snorkeling right off the shore was all we needed.
I can't wait to return! Cheers to Sheryl and Simone for everything they have done to create an atmosphere where everyone feels immediately at ease. |

My girlfriend and I just had the most wonderful and relaxing vacation at Sand Castle On The Beach. The accommodations were excellent, with a nice kitchen and bathroom, and a great view.
The staff was so friendly and helpful. Every recommendation they provided was superb-from the right restaurant to the right taxi driver.
Also, the setting was peaceful, yet not boring, and the other guests were friendly, helpful, and most of all - fun.
The restaurant, The Beachside Cafe, was located conveniently right next to the hotel. It overlooked the gorgeous beach, and had phenomenal food. We highly recommend the filet mignon-yum!
The private beach at Sand Castle was the best. It offered soft sand, clear waters, and sunsets to die for.
We plan to go back again and again. Next time we want to bring all of our friends. It was such a great setting for a romantic getaway - or for a group vacation. In summary, we loved St. Croix and Sand Castle on the Beach! |

From the moment we arrived at Sand Castle on the Beach, we knew we were in for a bit of heaven on earth.
The staff, the food, the rooms, the beach - everything was spectacular. It seemed that the number one goal of everyone was to make sure our stay was memorable. Their goal was exceeded and surpassed.
We'll go back again and again. |

This was the best vacation and Thanksgiving ever! Visited: November 2004 |

Our stay at The Sandcastle was the best. We stayed for two weeks and we wish we could have stayed for three. Sheryl, Samone and their staff were more than accommodating and willing to do whatever they could to make our stay an enjoyable one.
The beach directly in front of the hotel was beautiful with brilliant blue water. We stayed in suite 208 which had an ocean view, and we enjoyed breakfast and a few candlelit dinners on our balcony.
The other guests at The Sandcastle made us feel right at home. We made some good friends here, including two from our home town. Most of them were return guests, one couple have been coming for about thirty years.
We were lucky enough to be here for Thanksgiving, which was fantastic. The Beachside Cafe prepared a delicious meal, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The other guests made us feel like we were one of the locals.
The Beachside Cafe had great food and friendly service, and Robert (the chef) did a great job.
Our thanks for Sheryl, Samone, Irma, Pat and all of their staff for making our vacation so special. We were as sad to leave as everyone was to see us leave. We hope to see you again soon.

If you'd like a place away from the bustle, Sand Castle on the Beach is it! I was looking for a lesbian-friendly B&B where I could travel by myself and not be hassled.
At Sand Castle I found all that, run warmly and competently by Simone and Sheryl. Irma at the front desk hooked me up with kayak, snorkeling, and island tours, and Robert cut me a green coconut to drink from.
In addition, there was a wide variety of rooms and rates. Even my small, cheap room had cable TV, a VCR, microwave, sink and stove and A/C. Other rooms had a beachfront verandah, separate living rooms and kitchens.
I laid in the sun, saw a commitment ceremony, read books, met some of the other straight and gay guests, ate at the fabulous Beach Side Cafe, and enjoyed both the pool and the snorkeling that rivaled Buck Island on the reefs less than five feet offshore.
Renting a car is advisable, although it's possible to make do with taxis/local shuttles.
The massages and spa treatments by Don Carey on premises were amazing!
There was not a lot of nightlife in Fredriksted, but that wasn't what I was looking for, so I was content. |

We had a wonderful, relaxing week in a friendly, small hotel with wonderful hosts and great amenities.
It was right on the beach with great snorkeling, the food was fabulous, and they werved the best Bloody Mary I've ever had, made from scratch... they actually squeezed fresh tomatoes for the juice!
The atmosphere was very laid back, yet the staff went to great lengths to make sure guests were enjoying their stay.
We will definitely go back in three years for our 25th anniversary celebration- and in the next year or two, we intend to go back with friends, pull up a table and relax while watching the sunset as we dine at the restaurant on the beach. |

We fell in love with the resort and the people who work here on our first visit which was three years ago. We have been back four times since then and are already making our plans for next summer.
Sheryl and Simone have established a paradise in paradise. In addition to the outstanding service from Sheryl and Simone, the staff is first class. From Irma who does it all at the front desk, to Robert, the groundskeeper, who keeps the grounds beautiful (if you ask him, he'll climb a palm and bring you down a fresh coconut), to Rita at the Beachside Cafe.
We have stayed at resorts all over the world, but have never been happier than when we are at the Sand Castle on the Beach. It is a true haven in a beautiful setting. |

We had a great time at Sand Castle. Sheryl and Simone were wonderful ladies and excellent hosts.
The rooms were fabulous, the view was great and the beach was amazing. We met some good people while at Sand Castle, and had the best vacation we have ever taken.
Rent a car and tour the island, or just hang out on the most beautiful beach on the island. Make sure and get snorkeling gear at the desk because the fish out there were beautiful. Ask about the Domino Club and venture out there for a shot of Mama Wana. You'll love it! |

I would highly recommend Sand Castle on the Beach for your next stay!
Sheryl and Simone took great care of us, as well as the other guests. It was a small resort, allowing opportunity to meet other people. But it also allowed us to have "alone" time. We were looking for a laid back atmosphere and met some wonderful people here.
The room we had was spacious, clean, and had a patio overlooking the pool and the beautiful Caribbean ocean! They were located right on the beach - great for swimming and snorkeling. Sheryl and Simone answered questions, gave us great information, took care of restaurant, travel and other arrangements when we needed them.
The Sand Castle Restaurant next door was fabulous, too! They offered reat food and ambience. We plan to return when we can! |

From the onset, Simone and Sheryl were gracious and welcoming.
We had a beautiful beachside suite complete with a large walk-in shower. The staff was wonderful and we got to know them well (Robert cut fruit down from the local trees on the property).
The restaurant was wonderful (Rita was the best!), and you can't beat the beautiful view of the sea. The best thing about the vacation was that every day we walked a few feet from the hotel and jumped into the most beautiful water either of us had ever seen.
If you need a break, if you need some time just to enjoy one another and just slow down, Sand Castle on the Beach is the place for you. We had a wonderful time! |

We were so fortunate to find Sand Castle on a recommendation from a close friend three years ago. We loved it so much we keep going back, and this year decided to take 20 friends and family with us and get married on their beach!
It truly is paradise. After traveling around the world, their beach is the best we've ever seen. It is close, private, and superbly cared for. Sheryl, Simone, and the whole Sand Castle family take customer service to a whole new level.
The rooms are beautifully decorated, and the grounds are impeccable. Try the Beachside Cafe Restaurant for food so fantastic, we served it to 20 of our closest friends and family at our wedding reception.
You can't beat Sand Castle! Every time we head back to the mainland, we start making our plans for our next visit. |
