I had a really great time staying on Water Island. The campground had great accommodations, and the people were very friendly.
The island was very quiet, and geared toward relaxation, but it was not hard to catch the ferry to St. Thomas or St. John if you want a little more excitement for the day.
I highly recommend the Virgin Islands Campground. |

I stayed here with my wife and our four-and-a-half-year-old daughter. We stayed for a week from December 23, 2007. It was great. I like places that are not crowded, are submerged in beauty and where you don’t need a car.
I was in the so-called convenience apartment. It was cozy and clean. The kitchen range was limited, and we cooked with the other guests in the communal area. This was fun because the guests were great company and very nice.
My daughter had a lot of fun, too. There was a five-year-old child staying there, and at the beach it was easy for her to meet other kids.
The owners (Quade family) were extremely nice and ready to drive guests anywhere on the island. It was really good to have them waiting for us to bring us on the short ride to the campground when we came in from St. Thomas.
They’ll even drive you to the beach when you don’t feel like walking. They also went the extra mile to help, and they were very generous and welcoming.
We went to two beaches on the island (Honeymoon Beach almost every day – 10 minute walk- and Sprat Bay once – 15 minute walk). Both were beautiful and pleasant.
It took us a little to get used to having no stores on Water Island reality. Once I knew where to go, going to the supermarket in St.Thomas was not difficult. |

If it's relaxation, good energy, slow pace and kind people you are looking for, this place is a hidden gem. However, it won't be hidden for very long as word gets out.
We spent a week in a cabin on this property, and it was one of the most relaxing and rewarding travel experiences I've ever had.
The dramatic beauty of the island and the "campground" property itself, the Water Island community, and the community created by Deborah, Paul, Allison and Sean at the "campground" created a vacation experience like no other.
I won't be redundant and list all the wonderful things everyone else has, but expectations were exceeded, and no review could do justice to the beauty and peacefulness of the place.
These are people who clearly want to share this island's experience with travelers who will respect it, enjoy it and take advantage of all its natural splendor. Congratulations to this outstanding family for creating such a special retreat to this great secret in the Caribbean. |

This place was away from the tourist area. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and it gave us a homey feeling. The view was spectacular - whether it was during the day, late at night, or early dawn.
The sound of water against the shore was also very soothing for us. We watched the moon rise against the beautiful shore line.
The owners were very accommodating and pleasant. They made us feel part of their small community of Water Island by including us in their typical activities. |

It was perfect. The weather was great, and the view was gorgeous. Everyone on the island was really friendly, and we didn't want to leave! it was peaceful and relaxing.
I really enjoyed the fact that it was an eco-resort. I was on vacation, but here I didn't have to take a vacation from my environmental responsibilites. |

You won't like this if you like the five-star hotel scene. This is for those who enjoy peace and quiet, nature, and the simple life!
It is clean, eco- and human friendly. The owners are great, and so are the views! You can cook your own meals, or eat simple. It is good for us. Here, you can enjoy the sun and the beach. |

I don't assume to know what you are looking for in a Caribbean Vacation. But if your dream is to find that perfect, out-of-way-way oasis, where you can fritter away your days on a calm, quiet beach; and at night fall asleep to the sound of the waves washing up on the shore - this is your place.
It had the peace and quiet and closeness to nature of a campground, except instead of sleeping in a cramped, uncomfortable tent, you are in a spacious, private bungalow, with a new bed and electricity and towel service and all the things that will make your stay comfortable and pleasant.
There was a common area with a freezer and fridge, and a nice grill for cooking, and clean, new facilities for showering and washing up. There was even an internet-connected laptop guests could use for free to check email and things.
The owners were fantastic - so accommodating and fun, and the place was also eco-friendly - all the electricity was wind-generated, and the water was collected rain water.
My girlfriend and I are already planning our next trip here. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in the US Virgin Islands now. |

Nestled on a 500-acre island, this vacation spot was one I will never forget.
The beaches were spectacular, the snorkeling was amazing, and the island atmosphere was truly relaxing.
Also, dinner on the beach was a highlight of the vacation. |
