My husband and I stayed at Emerald Beach in February 1994. It was our very first trip to the Caribbean, and we found the staff at Emerald Beach to be very helpful to a couple of novice travelers.
The beach and bar staff were especially friendly and helpful. One thing that influenced our decision to stay there was its smaller size (not a big high-rise hotel!) and the fact that every unit looks out onto the beach.
After exploring the island a bit, we realized that Emerald Beach was a much shorter drive from downtown, the airport, and the Frenchtown area than other hotels on the island. We would definitely stay there again! |

We stayed here in March, 1997. The Emerald Resort was great. The rooms were newly renovated, and very, very nice. The furniture was new, there was a fridge, safe, and I think, coffeemaker. The bathroom had plenty of counterspace, and had marble walls and floor. The rooms overlooked the ocean, with a nice sized balcony. The restaurant there was great. We ate there every morning and most nights. In addition, you could get coffee there in the morning for take out.
The pool is small, but adequate. The beach is beautiful. We noticed planes flying by but it didn't bother us at all. The water was warm, with calm waves. The lady at the front desk was very helpful. The first room they put us in had a broken air conditioner, and they immediately moved us. In addition, I was always asking her to check if I had any messages (we were waiting from word from our travel agent), and she was always very pleasant.
All in all, it was a great place, and I would recommend it to anyone who asked. |

Planning our first visit to St. Thomas, I used this website to find accommodations and check reviews. The Emerald Beach Resort was perfect! Our room was quite nice. Certainly not a 5-star hotel, but clean, cool and with an absolutely breath-taking view of the Caribbean. The Restaurant was very enjoyable. I loved the "open air" as there were no windows and a constant refreshing breeze.
Lindberg beach was uncrowded and so peaceful. I actually enjoyed being close to the airport as it was bittersweet watching the planes arrive as I wondered if it's passengers found the flight over the Caribbean as breathtaking as I did. And, sad as I watched flights depart knowing they were leaving paradise. We were directed to Coki Beach for the best snorkeling and were very disappointed. After ten minutes on the beach, several buses with passengers from the 3 cruise ships in port, stormed the small beach, making it almost impossible to snorkel without bumping into someone. We should have stayed at the hotel.
In future trips to St. Thomas, I wouldn't stay anywhere else but Emerald Beach Resort. |

What a relaxing treat. The private beach, the pool, the bar on the beach, the breathtaking view from the balcony were wonderful. There were iguanas everywhere, even up on the roof and on the pool waterfall. They loved having fruit thrown to them.
The hotel provided a continental breakfast and you could have coffee on your balcony. The service was good.
Only drawback was not being able to get anywhere without a taxi. It was still cheaper to taxi for 5 days than to rent a car and risk killing ourselves trying to drive on the wrong side of the road! Twice we left a camera somewhere and each time it was returned to us. There was a lockable safe in each room.
There was virtually no noise from the airport. |
