Estate Concordia - St. John, USVI

You're a long way from anywhere at Estate Concordia Condominiums. The 8 attractive units sit on a breezy hillside near remote Salt Pond Bay. They're perfect for independent folks who enjoy solitude along with views of the ocean and the colorful cactus that grow on this arid end of the island. You definitely need to rent a car in the island's main town, Cruz Bay, if you plan to vacation here. The public bus does stop nearby, but a car provides more flexibility.

While you can cook in your well-stocked kitchen, there are no real stores for miles. There are a couple of poorly-stocked spots in and around Coral Bay, but to eat better, you'll have to shop in the small convenience-type stores in Cruz Bay, a 40-minute ride. The nearest restaurants are a 10-minute drive away.

The sea view goes on forever from your deck. The V.I. National Park's Salt Pond Bay with its spectacular hike to Ram's Head and its wonderful snorkeling in the calm bay is a five-minute drive away. The walk around the Salt Pond to the thundering ocean is particularly nice. If you have four-wheel drive, you can venture down a dirt road to Lameshur Bay, a spectacular spot with great snorkeling and the ruins of an old plantation to explore.

The units come in three sizes, sleeping from three to six people depending on the size. With Mexican tile floors and comfortable tropical-style furniture, they provide lots of creature comforts,
including a microwave oven in the well-equipped kitchen. The larger units have a dishwasher. A small pool provides the opportunity for a swim when you're tired of beaching it.
