Where to go when the rest of the world forgot who you were!! Visited: December 1969 |

Okay how to sum up the Ritz Carlton, WONDERFUL. I went in August/Sept. and granted it was the off season, I had a great time. The staff was great, they remember your name and that is a nice touch, everyone loves to be remembered and the Ritz Carlton has hired a top notch staff that is able to do that.
If this is a vacation of total leisure, well you have come to the right place; you never have to lift a finger except to sign your name. The pool and beach area are beautiful, and there is always enough staff to make sure that you are more than comfortable.
I guess what I am trying to say is that when my vacation was over, I had a hard time getting on that plane, that is how good it was. Can't wait to get back there. I love the island of St. Thomas but I find it hard to stay anywhere else! So folks pack those bags and get ready to be pampered like never before. |

I stayed at this hotel several years ago and found it to be one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever stayed at. From an architectural point of view, it reminded me of a sophisticated villa you'd find somewhere in Europe. The interior of the hotel, lobby, and rooms were decorated in subtle yet rich tones with lots of natural marble. The pool was incredibly designed. When inside, the water level mysteriously blended in with the incredible blue waters of the Caribbean. I would highly recommend this resort for any occasion to totally unwind or celebrate. |

The best wake up call that I ever had. Visited: December 1969 |

I went to St. Thomas to gather my thoughts after months of hard work, and the Ritz Carlton could not have been a better choice. The staff was wonderful. They were there to help you when you need it, and just plain friendly. I cannot say enough nice things about this place except for one thing, just go. I was so thrilled with the whole experience that I am going again in January, and I just left there one week ago!! So that should tell you how much I loved my stay there. |

I was expecting that any one of the resorts in the Ritz chain would be beautiful with a pleasant and gracious staff but my expectations were blown away.
The rooms were beautiful, the view was beautiful, the pool and beach area were perfect and the staff were nothing but helpful making for a heavenly honeymoon experience.
I would have to disagree with a previous review about the island itself. The capital was a short and cheap ride away with quaint and charming shopping as well as some great views from the high points of the island. Beyond the exploring to be done on St. Thomas, St. John was a ten minute ride away with some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen (you have to snorkel at Trunk Bay), exotic shops and a great chance to explore the natural beauty of the islands.
I'd pack my bag in a second for a chance to go back. |

Beautiful resort, but that's about it. Visited: December 1969 |

The Ritz Carlton is a great hotel chain and this resort is no exception. The service, quality and ambience is what you would expect from this company. The rooms are nice, the views are great and the service is excellent. The problem is that you can't leave the resort. There is almost nothing else to do on St. Thomas. The towns are run down, the roads are almost impossible to navigate and unless you are trying to escape a cruise ship, the shopping is vastly overrated. It's too bad the Ritz can't move this property to another island. |

Nice view, pool and well kept grounds but terrible service. Visited: December 1969 |

We have traveled to St Thomas and St John every year for the past seven years and have never been more disappointed in the service we received than at the Ritz. Low season at the Ritz surely should not mean no service.
The rooms had next to no views and were a distance from the main hotel, restaurants, pool, beach and parking lots.
We had nothing but trouble from day one: we needed to switch rooms, the concierge was non-existent, the pool had no towel or bar service and the employees familes used the facilities every day. To make matters worse, their gourmet restaurant ran out of 4 of the 8 entrees on the evening they recommended we attend for dinner.
We travel often and use the Ritz for business and pleasure all around the world. We would never return to The Ritz, St .Thomas.
Nevertheless, the grounds, the pool and the day sail on "The Lady Lindsey" were the bright spots. |
