Description:

Perfectly named, this Caneel Trailside villa is just a few feet from the mid-point of the VI National Park Caneel Bay Hill Trail, on the ridge between Caneel and Margaret Hills. This 2-bedroom villa is also conveniently about one mile from Cruz Bay. Split air conditioners add comfort in each bedroom and virtually throughout the villa. Panoramic views and a garden pool give you a reason to come home early from the beach! This villa is perfect for one or two couples or small families.

Nestled against a hilltop, Caneel Trailside Cottage is just steps away from two excellent National Park hiking trails.

The large front deck gives way to panoramic views of the Caribbean. One mile from Cruz Bay, Caneel Trailside Cottage is a rare commodity. The flat parking area and wooden gates behind Caneel Trailside Villa lead down a few short steps to the large brick patio. The main entrance to the villa is just steps away. Native stonework lines the walls on either side and adds architectural interest.

Around a side of the house, the patio pool deck resides among tropical landscaping and comfortable lounge furniture. A lush garden surrounds the private brick patio that encloses the swimming pool, barbecue area, plentiful seating, hammocks, and lots of space to idle away from it all. Expansive front porches look out over the Southwest end of St John and offer expansive views of the Caribbean.

Just inside the front door, a hallway closet houses a high tech stackable washer and dryer set. It's a convenient place to dry those towels after a long day of play!

Inside, the great room boasts teak furniture in the living area, cable TV, and stereo system. Panoramic views are ever present through an entire wall of sliding glass doors.

The views are always spectacular - some days you'll think you're seeing a mirage with beautiful vistas of St. Croix in the distance, over 48 miles to the south!

The fully applianced kitchen is designed for maximum efficiency and has everything you could want - blender, microwave, dishwashwer, stove with exhaust hood, fridge and plenty of cookware. The corian countertops and stainless steel appliances make cleaning a snap, so you can spend more time having fun. There's everything you need to cook up a storm!

The large mahogany dining area in the great room seats 6 comfortably. The inlaid table top adds an eclectic formality to casual Caneel Trailside Cottage.

Dining al fresco on the large covered deck is always an option. For those rare afternoons when there is little breeze, outdoor ceiling fans are a perfect addition.

The water view spans from the southeast to due west, broken only by the occasional island cay or cruise ship in the distance.

The two bedroom suites are located on opposite sides of the great room with a king-sized bed and its own en suite bathroom (with large walk-in showers boasting native stonework and designer tile), individually zoned air-conditioning, and private access to a porch overlooking the Caribbean. They feature built in reading lamps and dressers, corner seating and windows on three sides.

Rocking chairs grace an alcove in front of each bedroom wing. This is the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee while watching ships cruise by.

After a hike to enjoy the views on Margaret Hill or a beach on the North Shore, return home to reenergize and drinks around the pool. Forty yards from the backyard, through National Park land, is Caneel Hill Trail, which drops down to secluded white sand beaches on the North Shore in less than 45 minutes, and drops down to the town of Cruz Bay with a half-hour hike in the other direction. A 1/4-mile hike brings you to the Caneel Hill Observation Platform, where you can see a 360-degree view of both the Caribbean and Atlantic as well as the entire Western Half of St. John.

No matter how you spend your time, Caneel Trailside Cottage will quickly become your preferred spot for a perfect vacation!
