We stayed at the St. John Inn for four nights and we had a wonderful time. The room that we originally booked was a little small for us, and the management gladly moved us to a larger one at the same price!
We were very comfortable with the down-to-earth owner, Sarah, and her daughter, Devon. The room was very clean, the mattress was (to our surprise) extremely comfortable and the TV was a nice addition. Sarah lent us a cooler and towels for the beach and invited us to a dinner party she was having for friends.
Town was so close, and the area was very safe. We were walking around at 1:30 am and felt fine about it. We will definitely be back to visit our "home away from home". |

This is what is hard to find in St. John...an affordable inn. Visited: January 2003 |

We could only stay three days after a windjammer cruise, but this was a lovely small inn. It was affordable, without breaking the bank. There were about 12 rooms/units, and it was very clean, airy and nicely decorated.
Our suite had a huge mahogony four-poster, a large armoire with TV, large bathroom, and a sitting room with leather sofa and chair, and a small refrigerator. The only negative was lack of counter space in an otherwise very roomy bathroom.
There was a small pool in a shaded courtyard as well as an honor bar on the front porch/room with a big screen TV.
The staff was available for questions, was friendly and loaned us chairs for the beach.
It was also a short walk to the center of Cruz Bay. |

We had a lovely nine-night stay at the Inn--so good, in fact, that we are returning for Christmas. This hotel is not for people what want the "resort" experience, but for those who prefer feeling like a resident.
Our room was small and simple, but light and airy. The bed was extremely comfortable with an excess of pillows. Yes, there was a rooster that crowed under our window every morning, and dogs barking. B the people--staff and guests--were great, and we had impromptu barbeques and birthday parties.
The honor bar was stocked with top quality liquors, and the view from the deck was lovely. The pool was quite small, but fun to float around in after dinner. The hotel was very close to two great grocery stores and pharmacies, and only five minutes away from the center of Cruz Bay. We felt quite safe walking there. |

The best small hotel in St. John (and we looked at them all!). Visited: August 2002 |

The St. John Inn and its staff were the best parts of our stay. We now refer to this as our home away from home.
The rooms were comfortable, nicely decorated and clean. Management was always available to answer questions and to make sure we were having a great time. This was where the locals send friends and family. There was a lovely small pool and sun deck and the honor bar was well equipped! |

The St. John Inn was a wonderful alternative to the expensive resorts on the island of St. John. It was convenient, economical, clean and quaint.
My husband and I are ex-St. Johnians who are used to the little quirks of the island like roosters crowing at dawn, and dogs barking all night. It is just part of the island life.
Our room was one with the shared bathroom, which worked out great for us. Fortunately, our bathroom mates were clean, quiet and courteous. We were here for two weeks, so we wanted to save money on a lower cost room.
The staff was really nice and helpful. The little pool area was relaxing, if you didn't feel like leaving the inn, and the self service bar was also nice. We really enjoyed our time here, and will always stay here on future visits - which I am sure there will be! |
