This must be paradise found. Visited: November 2007

We just returned from our fourth consecutive stay at the Gentle Winds in St Croix . It is Paradise Found – trust me. I have traveled to the Caribbean for over 30 years, and nothing compares to this condo.

Our unit (C-6) is a three-bedroom, thre-bath, two level condo with a fantastic view of the ocean, pool, and manicured grounds out the front, and the lush mountains and large vacation homes and villas out the back.

The first floor is comprised of breakfast nook, and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a great room had comfortable island rattan furniture, a master bedroom with queen sized bed and full bath, and a second bedroom that has access to its own bathroom with shower. All have ceiling fans, and there is also a screened porch with great view.

Ascend the spiral staircase to the second floor, and you enter into an open loft sleeping area with sleep sofa and its own mountain view balcony, complete with lounge chairs.

Turn to the left, and you enter into the second master bedroom suite with full bath, king-sized bed, and a balcony from which, on clear nights, you can see the lights of St. Thomas, St. John, and Tortola.

The entire unit is air-conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans, cable TV, VCR, and WiFi connection. There is also a washer and dryer, which comes in very handy and allows you to cut back on the amount of clothes that you need to pack.

After a morning of touring, it's beach time! Gentle Winds has a soft sandy beach, complete with chaise lounges, chairs, and enough shade providing palapas to accommodate everyone.

Many days we would avail ourselves of lunch and drinks served at the “beach shack”. They serve good food, and the best burgers in St. Croix. The beach is 40yards X 250yards with lots of Palms.

Excellent snorkeling is available about 20 yards off shore. The coral reef starts there. When we tired of the beach and ocean, we retired to the pool area. The pool measures about 20 ft by 60 ft with depths from 2-10 feet. Chairs, tables, and umbrellas are provided, and it is a great place, too.

All told, Gentle Winds is a wonderful place to unwind, relax, kick back, and be as busy or lazy as you want. Enjoy every moment of the time you have in Paradise found.

A friend of mine owns one of these beautiful condos, and allows us time each year. It is the finest of the finest available in St. Croix!

This was a great place.

They had a beautiful sandy beach. The pool was nice and clean, but needed a bit of work on the concrete and lining.

Most of the condos were lovely - clean, with white wicker decor. It was very Caribbean. They also offered a fully equipped kitchen. The beach shack had great food and drink.

It was just a wonderful time.

Gentle Winds was the most relaxing vacation I ever had. My husband and I were here last Memorial week.

We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and the beach. It was like our own private beach. There were plenty of chairs, and they had a libary for loaner books.

We went on Big Beards Buck Island sail and barbecue. We drove through the rainforest and saw the largest lizard ever! It was almost bigger than the car we rented! We also went shopping in Christiansted and Fredriksted.

Breezes was the best restaurant we dined in.

Our only disappointment was not being able to see
Sandy Point, which was closed for turtle hatching.

Don't forget to go the Divi casino. We just went in for a little while, but it was exciting.

Out of all the places we have stayed, Gentle Winds looked to be the best and safest on the island. If you're thinking about coming to St. Croix, Gentle Winds is where you should stay.

There is no place else like Gentle Winds. Visited: November 2004

We recently returned from our most wonderful vacation yet. It was our fourth trip to St. Croix, and Gentle Winds was (by far) the best place to stay.

Any owners who were visiting were delightful (Thanks, Sally, for the Bogey's and Breezes referral). Also, the management was friendly, and "Chef Bobby" provided wonderful lunches (hot dogs, too!) and great laughs.

The beach, breezes, pool, and landscaping were all top notch. We celebrated our 21st anniversary during our visit, and we were thrilled with our time at Gentle Winds. We can't wait to visit again. It was absolutely wonderful.

We had a fantastic return to paradise. Visited: October 2004

Our stay at unit C-6 was better the second time around. Our first trip in '03 was great, but this time it was fantastic.

The beach and pool were both wonderful. Guests could snorkel right off the beach, which was secluded and uncrowded. The grounds were spacious and well manicured. There were great views are everywhere. On clear days we could see St. Thomas, St. John and Tortola.

We spent several evenings sitting on the balcony, cocktail in hand and trying to figure a way to extend our stay. You cannot go wrong at Gentle Winds, especially in unit C-6. The owner is top-notch and wonderful to deal with. We are planning to go back next year and for many years to come.

Gentle Winds is safe, clean, and great for families! Visited: April 2004

Our family of four (two teens) just returned from a wonderful week staying at the Gentle Winds condos on St. Croix.

Gentle Winds is perfect for families, and anyone wanting a safe, clean and relaxing place to stay on St. Croix. It is a 15-minute drive from Christiansted (a car is necessary). Nothing else is nearby; you feel like you have your own private (and safe) piece of paradise.

If you want nightlife, stay elsewhere. Our two-bedoorm condo was immaculate, and nicely decorated by the owner. The grounds are expansive, and well manicured. The beach is clean, and has chairs and shade. The roped-off swimming area has a sandy bottom, and is great for some casual snorkeling. The pool is large and clean.
The owners and guests are very friendly. And Bobby's Beach Shack has cheeseburgers to die for!

We went shopping in Christiansted, and covered it all in one afternoon. We went horseback riding with Paul and Jill's Stables. They had wonderful horses, and we had a great ride through the forest. We went to Buck Island on the Diva, a six-passenger sailboat. Captain Michael was great, and led us on a two-hour snorkeling tour of the reef. It was fantastic! We spent an enjoyable hour touring the St. Georges Botanical Gardens--even the teens liked it!

Overall comments on St. Croix: Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Driving on the left was strange, but we adjusted. The local drivers were among the safest and most courteous in the Caribbean. We felt safe, but suggest you not tempt your luck by going to isolated beaches, or walking around town at night. The weather was perfect all week, 82 degrees with a breeze every day. It was quieter than St. Thomas, and less expensive than St. John.

This will be our third stay. The beach is great, the pool is lovely and the beachshack lunches are tasty. Also, the property is beautiful, and the management and rental office staff are efficient and helpful. It can't be beat.
