5.0 stars It was unbelievable. Visited: February 2008

Since there has not been a recent review, I want to let everyone know that all that has been said below (and so much more) is still true about this island paradise.

There are no words to describe how incredible this place is - the location, the grounds, the views, and most of all the people.

I can't imagine any place better to stay.

5.0 stars Estate Lindholm boasts beautiful views, a wonderful setting, and excellent staff Visited: March 2006

This was my wife and my second visit to St. John, and we chose to get farther away from the very noisy Cruz Bay (we stayed at Lavender Hill last time, overlooking two graveyards and a big condo construction site).

Estate Lindholm was wonderful! It was so friendly, so laid-back, and so accommodating. The grounds were lush, seclusive and immaculately kept, with beautiful flowers, plants and birds everywhere.

The "contintental" breakfast was so much more than that, and we really enjoyed long breakfasts on the quiet terrace overlooking the bay, watching the small birds.

The clientele when we were here were quiet and older (i.e., no small kids were there during our five-night stay). So it was extremely quiet and serene.

We stayed in "Lavongo", a room with a loft we never cared to use. It was a well-appointed room, but with minimal kitchen facilities (no stove, small fridge). The view of Cruz Bay was perfect.

It was just a ten-minute hike down-hill through the forest to Honeymoon Beach, with great snorkeling. You could hike down the steep hill to the edge of downtown in about five minutes, but get a cab at night or to go back up!

Lauren and Brion Morisette and their staff were all so warm and friendly, happy to sit down and have a chat or sensitive enough to leave you to your thoughts. The pool was small, but definitely did the job.

We highly recommend Estate Lindholm and hope to return there soon.

We visited St. John in Dec. 2004 for our 25th anniversary and stayed at the Estate Lindholm. It was everything we wanted.

The rooms were wonderful, the views were spectacular, and Lauren could not have been a better hostess! Whenever we needed her, she was there - but it was truly like being here all by ourselves.

We highly recommend it.

5.0 stars This is a perfect and unique spot to really relax. Visited: May 2004

My husband and I stayed at Lindholm during our honeymoon. We booked the Estate because of the great reviews and we have never been interested in large corporate hotels that make you feel like you've never left the mainland.

It was absolutely perfect - relaxing, beautiful grounds and a view. Lauren and Brion were wonderful, and available if we needed them but not always hanging around, which made the estate really feel like it was soley ours.

Cruz Bay was a ten-minute walk down the hill, which was great for excercise! Ask Lauren about favorite snorkel/hiking spots, we saw so much sealife and not a lot of other people.

This is a wonderful place for a wonderful vacation.

We chose to stay at Estate Lindholm while celebrating our 25th anniversary. We were looking for something fairly quiet, romantic, but also with someone on site we could ask questions and advice of as needed.

Lauren, Brion and their family were friendly, gracious, attentive, and accommodating in every respect.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful and impeccably maintained. It was delightful to explore the property, and for the first two days we did not even encounter another guest.

We stayed in the Jumbie Room. Views of the harbor and surrounding islands, framed by bouganvillea on our balcony were stunning. The western exposure was perfect for viewing sunsets, and in the early morning hours we could see the moon shining over St. Thomas from the bed, which faced directly towards the balcony.

Breakfasts on the patio overlooking the pool were casual and delicious, with a variety of items to choose from and bananaquits feeding on sugared fruit nearby for entertainment.

Relaxing poolside with a cocktail from the honor bar was the perfect way to unwind each day after hiking and snorkeling.

If you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing and utterly romantic spot to spend your days on St. John, you need look no further.

Thank you to Lauren and Brion for making our 25th anniversary trip truly special.

5.0 stars Estate Lindholm is a five-star accommodation. Visited: June 2003

Thinking of going to St. John? Two things: Number one - Go! Number two - stay at Estate Lindholm!

My wife and I have just returned from our anniversary trip and are already making plans to return. Lindholm's grounds were beautiful and exotic, and the views are phenomenal.

Its location could not be more convenient to town. To beach hop you'll want a jeep (or taxi, or try renting a small boat), but there were two wonderful beaches within a short hike.

The Morrisettes took us in and made us feel like old friends - good stuff. Do yourself a favor and go to St. John and stay at Estate Lindholm.

5.0 stars This was our dream honeymoon! Visited: May 2003

The Estate Lindholm was incredible! We stayed here for our honeymoon for eight days, and believe me I am glad I listened to the other reviews posted here. This place was perfect for those who seek a romantic island getaway.

The grounds were amazing...beautiful with lush, tropical foliage and flowers, balconies overlooking Cruz Bay, stone walkways that led to a beautiful breakfast area.

Lauren and Brion were wonderful hosts. They provided everything we needed for the beach (towels, coolers, chairs), and they were full of great advice on activities and restaurants. We took a terrific boat cruise to the British Virgin Islands on the recommendation of Lauren and it was spectacular!

Asolaire, the restaurant on the property, was a bit pricy, but well worth the visit. It was extremely romantic (get a balcony reservation).

All in all, it was exactly what we had in mind for our honeymoon. We will definitely return.

My wife and I just returned from an unforgettable week on the lovely island of St. John.

Before we left though, we did our research on the Estate Lindholm by visiting this website and countless others. Not one of them had anything negative to stay about this beautiful bed and breakfast.

The estate was conveniently located on top of the hill overlooking Cruz Bay and even though my wife and I had a rental car, we elected often to just walk to town. The views from the estate were breathtaking and it had impeccable landscaping.

Our hosts, Lauren and Brion, made us feel incredibly welcomed and provided us with towels, coolers with ice, advice and many other thoughtful things that made our trips to the beach even more enjoyable.

If you are thinking of going to St. John and staying somewhere other than here, you might just want to rethink that decision. I will only go back to St. John if I can stay at the Estate Lindholm!

The best places we found to eat were Island Blues in Coral Bay; and Uncle Joe’s Barbeque, in Cruz Bay.

We found the best deal on food at the North Side Deli in the Mongoose Shopping Mall. We got a $9 foot-long sandwich that easily fed two.

I learned about Estate Lindholm on this site. And, based on all the great feedback, I booked a harbor view room for our honeymoon. It met and exceeded all my expectations.

The view was spectacular, the rooms were very comfortable, and Lauren was so nice and helpful throughout our stay. Our favorite beaches were Salomon and Honeymoon, and they were just a ten minute walk from our room. We had considered shelling out the big money for Caneel, and we are so glad we didn't - we would have paid much more and gotten much less.

5.0 stars This is the best kept secret on St. John. Visited: September 2002

We would highly recommend the Estate Lindholm to anyone looking for a memorable stay on St. John.

The lush tropical gardens were gorgeous and well maintained. We were surrounded by many colorful, scented flowers as well as numerous songbirds, all reinforcing the very intimate and private setting. The view from both the breakfast/pool area and our room was truly amazing - I don't think there are any other hotels with a location like it on the island.

Our room (Hawksnest) was large, clean, modern, and tastefully decorated. We were happy to see a nice sized fridge and microwave, which made it possible to store picnic lunches and/or reheat leftovers. We especially enjoyed the large window in the shower, providing a breathtaking, private view of the bay - a perfect way to wake up in the morning. One tiny drawback, however, was the air conditioning - a bit on the loud side for those of us used to central air, but this didn't change our overall view of the visit.

Estate Lindholm was in a great location - only a five-minute walk to Cruz Bay (but you will need a taxi back up - espacialy at night!), and less than a 20 minute hike down to one of the best beaches on the island (Honeymoon). The hike was definitely worth it, but was not for the lazy.

Last but not least, we can't forget to mention Lauren and Brion - the very welcoming and helpful owners. Lauren picked us up and dropped us off at the dock and was a constant source of good information throughout our stay. We loved the continental breakfast and often lingered to talk with Lauren and some of the other guests. It was evident that she loves what she does and that she genuinely cares about her guests.

We have traveled extensively and have never experienced this level of overall satisfaction. This was the perfect place to get away from it all!

My wife and I stayed at Estate Lindholm on our honeymoon and were in awe at the view from our garden view room "Cinnamon". You will be hard pressed to find anything on St. John that even compares to the views, hospitality, serene gardens, massive balconies, great location and price of Estate Lindholm.

Brion and Lauren Morrisette are the owners and they are simply the most genuine and helpful people we've met in a long time. They each have tips on where to go during the day and where to eat in the evenings. They personally picked us up from the ferry dock and drove us down when we left, this was a huge help.

As for the location, perfect. The Estate is located just up the hill from Cruz Bay with views of St. Thomas and Pillsbury Sound. It takes five minutes to get from your room to town and a $3, one-minute cab ride to get back up the hill (walking up after all the food and drink may prove to be a little much).

To get to the beaches, just walk to the roadside and hail a cab to your beach of choice. You can also take a 15-minute walk down the Lindt Point Trail to Honeymoon and Solomon Beaches where you may be one of only a few people on the beach (there was never more than six other people). These beaches are also good for snorkeling and watching the sun set.

Estate Lindholm is, hands down, the only place to stay on St John.

5.0 stars What a beautiful inn on beautiful St. John! Visited: June 2002

Estate Lindhom is a wonderfully modern and well maintained inn on a hill overlooking beautiful Cruz Bay and St. Thomas. They have an amazing garden with a pool.
It is great for couples or a small family who would prefer more privacy than can be offered by the large resorts.

You are a five-minute walk downhill to Cruz Bay, but take the $2-$3 cab backup. They offer very reasonable rates. The owner is also very friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed a great six-night stay. Estate Lindhom is highly recommended! Also, St. John has beautiful beaches, great snorkeling and hiking. Also highly recommend are two reasonably priced restaurants in Cruz Bay - Cafe Roma and Uncle Joe's BBQ.

We have just returned from our honeymoon, after staying four nights at Estate Lindholm. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The owners were very warm and friendly and made a big effort to make sure we were happy.

The flora around the buildings was striking and the whole area was very tastefully designed for a feeling of intimacy. We stayed in the Jumbie Suite, which provided for us a comfortable bed and a wonderful view of Cruz Bay and evening sunsets.

Estate Lindhom is very highly recommended to anyone visiting St. John.

We stayed at Estate Lindholm for seven nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and have gorgeous views. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The Morrisettes are great hosts and know a lot about the island. A casual breakfast is served every morning on the stone terrace overlooking Cruz Bay. We would highly recommend Estate Lindholm and hope to visit again soon!

Estate Lindhom was in a fabulous location, with beautiful surroundings. The rooms were lovely and had balconies with incredible views. The pool was also charming.

We also received friendly and helpful service from Lauren and Brion (and their kids). They offered a convenient breakfast service, reasonable rates, and a very personal St. John experience. The only thing missing was a beach at the doorstep, but that was only a short distance away (by foot or Jeep).

Why pay Caneel Bay's rates, when you can stay here and dine in town at the fun restaurants there. Oh, and be sure to go to Asolare, too, the great restaurant next door.

5.0 stars Terrific, everything we were looking for Visited: April 2001

This bed and breakfast was the perfect spot for my recent honeymoon trip. Lauren was very knowledgeable and made several excellent suggestions from things to do and places to eat to where to rent snorkeling gear. She went above and beyond her call of duty, and even drove us to the ferry dock on the day we left. We stayed in "Jumbie" a room with a terrific view of Cruz Bay and St. Thomas.

The walk down the hill to town was not bad but we took cabs back up. The property was also within walking distance of both Honeymoon and Salomon beaches. Both of which were beautiful and secluded. The restaurant Asolare is not to be missed. The property itself is very picturesque and we couldn't get over the number of bougainvillea and hibiscus flowers among others. The Honor Bar is very convenient, as is the continental breakfast. I would recommend Estate Lindholm to everyone.

5.0 stars Friendly, Casual, Comfortable Visited: April 2001

Estate Lindholm is a family-owned and operated inn perched on hillside overlooking picturesque Cruz Bay. The Morrisettes are warm people who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. They also have knowledge of the island that only folks who have been born and raised there can have.

Their place is especially handy because it is within walking distance to both town and the extremely private Honeymoon Beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable and sport spectacular views of the ocean and St. Thomas. Another bonus of this location is that it is located next door to Asolare, perhaps the best restaurant on the island. The deck and the pool are a nice diversion when you have had enough time on the beach.

When you combine all of this with the reasonable rates, staying at Estate Lindholm is a "no brainer". And when you're on St. John, why would you want to use your brain?
