Frank and Mary are VERY Misleading Visited: May 2003 Posted by caribbeanbum Frank and Mary have this place listed in several hostel databases online. This place is NOT a hostel. A hostel has rooms with bunk beds, which accommodate more than one person per room. A hostel is usually less than $20.00 U.S. per night. So if you're a BUDGET minded traveler, Danish Chalet Inn is NOT a hostel. I hope this review saves other budget travelers a huge headache and from being mislead. Did you find this helpful? STAY AWAY!! Visited: May 2003 Posted by s_nettles I had read this review and decided to stay there instead of one of the big resorts. Boy was I mislead! There are certain things you expect when staying at a bed and breakfast such as safety, air conditioning, parking, did I mention air conditioning? The house is very diificult to find since there are no street names and the 'nieghborhood' is basically a slum. There is no air conditioning expect for one room which I assume is the owner's living area, a requirement in any month while on the USVI, and there is 1 parking space avaialble. If you ignore the shanties that surround the proporty - think Haiti - you do have a view of the harbor, but this is not what you'll remember. The owners were pleasant, but don't make the mistake I did. We moved that same day to the Renaissance. I have no idea where these other reviews get the idea about 'Great location' or 'Coming home to Grandma' If feeling you like looking at abject poverty, no air conditioning, minimium accomodation or your Gandmother lived in a housing project then you'll be right at home. Visited: June 2002 Posted by meganly Frank and Mary made this cozy inn a warm and inviting place. My whole family (10 people) stayed two nights in the beginning of our trip, and one night coming home. It made for a good way to "get our feet wet" and to relax before making the journey home. Visited: August 2001 Posted by tgunther We felt like the Danish Chalet was our home away from home. Frank and Mary, the proprietors, met our every need. We were even able to bring our 4-lbs. dog with us, who also enjoyed the stay. I highly recommend staying at the Danish Chalet. If you want convenience combined with affordability, then this is the place to stay. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends. Visited: August 2001 Posted by frhea This quiet little Bed & Breakfast will make you feel like you are going to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Regardless if you are alone or visiting with small children, each of you will be treated as honored guests and family. Visited: February 2001 Posted by ctt We have been coming to the islands for the last 18 years—in fact, we were married at Danish Chalet Inn. Frank and Mary stood up in our wedding; that's how much we like it. We have taken all of our children here (6) with their significant others. We always stay at the Inn. There's no place like home. The Inn is home to us. We love Frank and Mary very much. They always make our stay memorable.
