I thought this place was absolutely disgusting. Visited: January 2009 |

I thought this was the most disgusting place on island. It was completely full of mold, and there was raw sewage under the buildings from busted pipes. The furniture was nasty, and the kitchen looked like it was from a third world country.
Also, they charged $7 just to sit in a beach chair! The management staff seemed uneducated and unprofessional. They were also rude.
In addition, the security treated us like we were in a maximum security prison.
Overall, I do not believe the magazines or brochures because I thought the whole island was trashy. I suggest you save your money and stick to beaches in Florida. This place was absolutely disgusting. |

We own a condo at Sapphire Village, and might buy another so family can come stay with us. There are lots of renovations going on, and we love the location. It is so close to the marina and the ocean.
The views are beautiful, too. We like to sit on our balcony and listen to the wind whistling through the sailboat masts, then jump out and swim at the beach on the other side of the marina!
Take the ferry to St John! There are all sorts of places you can rent in the VI, high price to low, so choose what you like, and don't complain. After all, you chose it. Want better? Pay more. We do that sometimes, too.
I would think that anyone fortunate enough to stay here would be cheerful about it! Yes, there's plenty of wonky stuff about St. Thomas. So what? The weather is here! |

Stick to the area of Frenchman's Reef. This spot is for tight budget vacation junkies. You know how "I got a great deal" goes - you also get nothing, just a big black hole for your money. |

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Visited: November 2007 |

Upon entering my room, I was shocked. It was a far from clean time share condominium with an odd smell. In the bathroom, the water was leaking. Also, the bottles of shampoo and conditioner were already open, no doubt after use by the previous guests - meaning that not only had they not been replaced, but that the bathroom had not been cleaned.
I tried to relax, only to find that the television remote was not working. I requested fresh batteries. They came three hours later, but did not solve the problem. It was not a huge problem, but was made worse given everything that had already happened.
That evening, as I settled into bed it quickly became clear to me that I was not sleeping in clean sheets. In fact, I suspect that the hotel staff had simply made the bed after the last guests' departure. What's more, the bed was so old that a spring was constantly poking me in the back.
The front desk staff couldn't seem to care less - and nothing was done. The next morning, I left the room as early as possibly and returned around 3 pm. As I looked into the bedroom, I noticed that the sheets had not been changed, nor had the bed been made.
I called the front desk, and asked for clean sheets. I then went to dinner, and returned a few hours later to find a garbage bag with sheets sitting on the dinning room table. I was informed that the rooms were only serviced every other day and that I would have to put the fresh sheets on the bed and make it myself.
Please do yourself a favor, and do not ever stay here! |

Antilles offers a good price in a great location. Visited: June 2005 |

Our studio was by no means new and polished, but for two people it certainly served its purpose. It had a small kitchen, comfortable bed, and separate seating area with a satellite TV. It also had a balcony overlooking Sapphire Marina with a gorgeous view of the islands, right across from pool and Azure restaurant.
The pool was small, but not too small. It was nice, warm, clean and refreshing for a dip after visiting the beach. There was nice seating around it for reading and sunning.
Azure had good food (try the fish chowder special each night, homemade, delicious, a steal for $4 a big bowl!). They served excellent burgers, with Thai night on Thursdays. Also, they had a very nice bar with great bartenders who know how to make a dry martini.
Azure was not open on Mondays or for lunch during off-season.
A walk to Sapphire Beach took five to ten minutes. It was downhill to the marina, and you could walk around the marina dock to Sapphire Beach Resort.
The beach was beautiful with white sand, crystal clear water, and fantastic views. There was great snorkeling to the right side of the beach where the coral was, and there was a nice big bar making excellent tropical drinks for $6-$7 a pop.
You could rent beach chairs from the resort, but if you go in the afternoon, chairs (rented by others who have left the beach) are always available for free.
The restaurant at Sapphire Beach Resort (W'Indies) was okay, but not nearly as good as Azure.
The location of Sapphire Village was perfect for guests with a car (or even if you use taxis). Red Hook, with its restaurants, grocery store (Marina Market, has excellent baked good and meats) and ferry to St. John, was five to ten minutes away.
Coki Beach was also close by, which had the best snorkeling on St. Thomas (near Coral World). You can sit on Coki Beach (umbrellas, $10 a day) and order drinks by waiters roaming the beach who'll deliver the drinks right to you, even in the water! Try the Mail Man's mango daquiri, it's the best.
Several day sails and sunset cruises were also available at the marina.

It is nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. Visited: November 2004 |

We stayed for a week in a studio unit. It wasn't fancy, but it was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed (except a hair dryer) - I was told this would be supplied or we would have brought one.
The view was excellent from the room and the balcony, and the beach and pools were great. |

We stayed here at Sapphire Village for one week and our stay was quite relaxing and interesting.
Although, there could have been more interests, we enjoyed our stay.
I would recommend this village to anyone who is looking for great views, relaxation and comfort. I would definetly stay there again. |
