| I went to St. Thomas for my birthday, and had the time of my life. Not only was the Green Iguana the best hotel I have ever stayed at, the managers, Susie and Bill made me feel like family. I will definitely stay here again when I return to the islands. |

It's relaxing, with an "at home" feel. Visited: July 2008 |

| We loved our stay here - after we managed our luggage up the steps. Neither the taxi nor the managers would help. We loved the breakfast and the views! The managers were warm and friendly. We just hopped the locals', open-air buses for $1 over the the beaches (taxis were $20). We are returning to this place. It's not fancy, but certainly laid back. The pool and area was not new, but immaculate! |

Speedy check-in at this Hotel!!! Visited: March 2009 |

| I was on trip advisor checking rates of hotels on St. Thomas. I saw that the Windward Passage had some good deals. Of course I read all the reviews about the hotel and most of the reviews were positive. I also have to agree with the other viewer's comments about customer service at the Windward Passage. Outstanding service at the Windward Passage Hotel!! Dinner was great. We had a server Innocintha that was remarkable. She went above and beyond the call of duty. Also the ladies at check in were great. I've stayed at other hotels where I had to wait for my room but not at the Windward Passage. I had a speedy check in. The telephone operators Joyce and Samantra were very helpful. They gave us recommendations about things to do on St. Thomas as well as dinner reservations. My only negative is that I wanted to get a massage and the spa wasn't open. Called a couple of times and didn't get an answer. |

Talk about costumer service - Joyce is the best! Visited: October 2009 |

| I came to speak at a seminar in St. Thomas and the sponsors had me staying at the Windward Passage Hotel. I would say that the service was okay. When I came to check in, there was only one front desk agent there and the line was out the door. I was very frustrated for waiting so long to check in. One night around 11pm, I ran out of medicine for my sinus congestion. I really was congested and couldn't sleep without it. I dialed zero and luckily Joyce answered. I asked her if there was a store open so I could buy my medicine. Joyce said she would call around to the different convenience stores to see if they sold the medicine and she would call me right back. When Joyce called back, she said there was one place open that sold it and she told me the price. I asked her if she could call a taxi for me so I could buy the medicine. She called back and said the taxi stand wasn't answering. I really needed this sinus medication. Joyce offered to take me to the convenience store when she got off from work. I was so appreciative she did that. She didn't have to help me out, but Joyce went above and beyond duty. |

This was the worst hotel experience! Visited: August 2009 |
|
| Posted by ninamohl45 | |
| This was one of the worst hotels I've ever been to. We had an all-inclusive package, so everything was prepaid. When we got there we found out one major restaurant was closed for renovations, and most of the others were missing half their menu every day. The air conditioning in the hotel broke one night and wasn't fixed until late the next morning. But the worst part was one night when we had raw sewage coming out of our pipes! When we called the front desk to complain, they said they couldn't do anything because we were prepaid. A front desk manager finally agreed to give us some credit back to my card, but it never came. When I called the hotel to check on the status of the credit, they said only that manager could do anything and she was off for a month and to call back later. I've called back about 20 times over the past month to speak with two managers, and am told to either call back later or don't have my messages returned. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and I would definitely not recommend it to anyone. Stay somewhere else, unless you want a dirty hotel with incompetent service! |

| The managers, Susie and Bill, are the most accommodating hosts we have ever encountered. The hotel is clean and - thanks to these managers - well cared for. Our stay on the island would not have been as much fun if not for these well informed island hosts. Centrally located, it is five minutes from town central, ten minutes from Hull and Magens Bay, and 15 minutes from the first tee at Mahogany Run Golf Club. What more can one ask for? |

Windward Passage hotel is great for weekend stays! Visited: September 2009 |

| Joyce Joshua (the telephone operator) was incredibly helpful. Her bubbly enthusiasm was wonderful, and she was able to handle an issue we had with our original room and get us into the room we reserved. She is a real asset to the property. Please keep her. She's the best! Also, Samantra (telephone operator) was nice, too. She helped us with dinner reservations. The entire staff - whether working in an office, the restaurant or on the grounds - always greeted us during the week with a friendly hello. We are making plans for our next visit to the Holiday Inn during the Christmas week. The down side - the toilet did not flush right. I called maintenance, and they said it was fixed. However, it still did not flush. The drains were slow. We were told by front desk staff that we would not have to change rooms (we stayed an extra night). |

I will always return to the Marriott Frenchman's Cove. Visited: September 2009 |
|
| Posted by devisunshine | |
| My husband and I recently stayed at Frenchman's Cove (September 13-20). It was wonderful. We stayed in the St. John building on the fifth floor. The view from that room was incredible! Every morning we got up around 6 am to see the cruise ships enter the harbor. I read on previous web sites that everyone complained about taking elevators to get to the restaurant. However, my husband and I didn't mind taking elevators. I just think people are lazy and don't want to exercise (no wonder why Americans are so obese). The only thing was that the elevators were hot and were not air conditioned (which was uncomfortable). Check- in was great! The front desk ladies were so nice. They had cookies and lemonade waiting for us (the lemonade was so tasty, I came up to refill my water bottle full of lemonade!). These ladies should be given a raise. The restaurant and market place prices are too expensive! We went to Pueblo, which was a waste of time. Pueblo was just as expensive as the Marriott. Diana recommended we go to the Food Center, and I'm glad we did. The Food Center had so much to offer - fresh fish, deli meat and breads! Eating out every day could be every expensive - especially in St. Thomas. My husband and I ate breakfast at home and ate out for dinner. Some restaurants you must try are Virgilos, Atlantic Seafood Restaurant, Delly Deck, Mims Seaside Bistro, and Mafolie's. One more thing, I suggest that you rent a car. It's kind of hard to adjust to driving on the left, but once you get the hang of you'll be fine. Taxis were too expensive ($6 to town per person). We got a great deal at a local rental agency "First Car Rental". I recommend getting a jeep from them. Their cars are not in the best condition, but their jeeps and mini vans are. |

I would stay at the Windward Passage again. Visited: August 2009 |
|
| Posted by kimgold09 | |
| I recently stayed at the Windward Passage Hotel in St. Thomas and the service was excellent. Before I arrived I wanted to find out about things to do on the island. When I called the hotel, I spoke to Joyce (the telephone operator). Joyce was very knowledgeable about the island and fantastic! Joyce practically sold the island to me. She told me about the weather, places to dine (must try Mims and Virgilos), shop and party (Crown Bay Marina, Fat Turtle). She even setup a private limo service "Charles" to pick my husband and me up from the airport. Charles' limo was very comfortable and private. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a bellman who greeted us at the gate. I can't remember his name, but he took us to Magens Bay on their complimentary shuttle. We had the perfect room with a full ocean view (which was very important to us). Every morning my husband would make us a mug of coffee, and we would go onto the balcony to watch the sunrise and the cruise ship come into port. The beds were very comfortable. They also had plasma TVs. The hotel provided a free continental breakfast, so that was a plus for our budget. Since the Windward Passage is located in the downtown area, there was no need for us to rent a car. Joyce suggested that we take a safari (open air taxi) which charge like a buck to get around the island. The locals on the safari were also nice. We asked them which restaurant locals eat at. Someone recommended Cuzzins and Gladys' Cafe. We ate a Gladys' for lunch, and the food was great. I had a chicken Caesar salad, and my husband had Calaloo. It was like a spinach soup with fish, okra and veggies. In my opinion, the Windward Passage hotel is for frequent visitors who don't want to spend too much money on a hotel room. My only complaint is that they need to have activities on the hotel premises (besides their game room) such as live music or a pool/ dominoes tournament. I would stay at the Windward Passage hotel again. |

Frenchman's Cove is a family-oriented resort. Visited: September 2009 |
|
| Posted by kimgold09 | |
| We enjoyed our stay very much. Everyone was friendly; and the villas were attractive and comfortable. The only reason we would not go back is that we enjoy experiencing new places. Our vacation started off when we arranged a private limo service to pick us up from the airport (I think his name was Charley or Charles please forgive my spelling). I read on several web sites that taxis were rude, overcrowded and expensive. I just wanted to be alone with my wife and children, so my travel agent suggested that we use his service. I'm glad we did! He was so nice to us. He was on time, had ice cold water waiting for us in his vehicle and that day it felt like it was 90 degrees. It was private, and he took us directly to the resort. From what I read on other web sites, the taxis don't take you directly to your resort. They make many stops. You know how one can feel when you've been traveling all day and you just want to get to your hotel. We used his services a few times, and then we decided to rent a car (pick ups adds up). You have to go to Magen's Bay Beach. The view is spectacular. My wife put together a picnic basket, and we just hang out under a tree. Everyone was friendly. Shanda (in room assignments) was also tremendously helpful and friendly. She made sure we got the condo we wanted (which was the same we had used last year). Also, Diane was such a sweetheart. She made us feel so at home and was very helpful. We had a group hug with her when we left the Marriott's Frenchman's Cove. She was very accommodating on every level. In addition, Taraja (the bartender) and Francia (activities) were so helpful. My wife I enjoyed leaving the children with activities on Wednesday while we went to Banana Tree Restaurant. The food and view, by the way, were both excellent. I have three suggestions, though. The elevators need A/C. Could you imagine four of us in an elevator that is hot? I know Mr. Marriott is making millions, so please install air conditioning in the elevator. Secondly, at the pool and beach you should have a bartender walking around to serve drinks. Guests don't want to get up from the pool to get a drink all the time. Lastly, I had an issue regarding maintenance fees going up. I asked to be connected to the GM office and left a message. He never called me back. I was told the he was in a meeting. I felt like I was getting a run around. |

| We were here for ten days or so. Not only was the view great from our room, but they let us borrow all kinds of supplies which saved us a ton of money. We had a blast. We went snorkeling and were able to pack a lunch (they lent us a cooler), and our room was air conditioned and clean. I miss Suzie and Bill, and I want to go back! |

| Our recent stay at the Green Iguana was better than being at home because someone else was taking care of us so we could go out and have fun. The room was very clean and recently updated. The hosts, Bill and Susie (and their staff) were very professional and accommodating. The hotel was close to town, with great restaurants and shopping available. It was also a short drive to Magens Bay-the most beautiful beach we have ever seen. We would definitely stay here again. |

This is a wonderful resort. Visited: September 2009 |

| I travel to St. Thomas every year over the US Labor Day weekend. I have stayed at the Marriot Frenchman's Reef, the Ritz Carlton, and now the Wyndham Sugar Bay. I really enjoyed my stay at the Wyndham Sugar Bay. After reading the posts - which seem to vary broadly, I did not know what to expect. However, I found the place to be really quite lovely, modern, and clean. The staff was tremendously friendly and pleasant (not speedy, but that is the Caribbean way - that is why it is a pleasure to relax here). The room was spacious and clean - with a spectacular view. I dined and drank in all the restaurants and found them all to be really quite wonderful - no complaints whatsoever. The food was good, and the prices were reasonable. The selection was very nice, too. In addition, I visited the gym and the spa and give high marks to both. When I return to my lovely island next year, I will stay at the Wyndham again. Incidently, I would rank the Marriott a close second and the Ritz third - mostly just due to the poor service and very high prices. |

| The managers are the most hospitable you will ever find. The location is right in the middle of everywhere, and the rooms are clean. There were iguanas everywhere, but none were too scary. Our stay was truly enjoyable and, yes, we will be back. |

| We stayed here after visiting St. Thomas many times. We have friends who have a local business and live on the island, and they were also in love with all the beauty the villa had to offer. The pictures of the property were accurate, and the rooms and views were awesome. Everything was perfect. If you pick Allure for your next stay, you will not be sorry! |

| This is a clean and well appointed inn. It is quiet, peaceful, and within a five-minute walk from the center of Charlotte Amalie Harbor. Here you'll find great balcony views, and Bill and Susie are wonderful and helpful hosts. They are super people. Green Iguana Hotel offers lots of bang for the buck. I wish all innkeepers paid as much attention to detail and were as conscientious as the McCarthys. |

This was the worst place ever. Visited: August 2009 |
|
| Posted by stargazer | |
| After years of island travel, I was quite shocked at the attitude of the staff and the overall lack of a sense of urgency to provide a high level of customer service. The staff was unfriendly and lacked a general welcoming feeling. We arrived to carry our bags without so much as a "Welome to the Wyndham!". Most hotels exhibit a feeling of welcome! Also, we waited over an hour to check in. The restaurants served cold and poorly presented food at a snail's pace. How long does it actually take to prepare a hot dog anyway? There was a high level of debris and overall filth on the beach. Not once in a week did we see anyone grab a rake and clean the beach. There was broken glass, a single dirty black sock, and fruit garnishes from the myriad of plastic cups left strewn about the sand every place you turned. I bet money that if you called the hotel and said you were a guest looking for your favorite sock, someone would be able to retrieve it for you even today. The guys running the water sports on the beach looked filthy. Can you not spare the fees necessary to attire them in a clean looking polo shirt? One of the guys took his daily dip in the swimming pool. We wanted to rent jet skis and were told we have to wait until he opened. We are still waiting. I addressed concerns with guest relations person, and she indicated she was not expecting as many guests. If you wearing a Wyndham name badge, if a guest smiles at you, you should be required to smile back. |
