Many of the hotels in Cuba were built in the 20th Century, but they have been fully renovated and many can now lay claim to 5-star status. The best thing about an older hotel is the room size. Guest rooms are far more expansive than you can find in many of the more modern hotels. The Inglaterra Hotel is a case in point. Built in 1875, it is an official National Monument. It has an unmatched neoclassical façade, amazing stained-glass windows, hand-tiled mosaics, and artistically crafted ceilings that make the hotel an architectural work of art.
The Barceló Solymar Beach Resort was the first of its kind on the island introducing the modern “beach resort” concept that offered water sports like diving and snorkeling, beaches for swimming, beachcombing, or sunbathing, and large, interlocking pools in conjunction with fine dining options and exciting casinos.
