Description:
Located in the historic district of Ka'u on the island of Hawaii, Kalaekilohana is 10 miles from the Punalu'u Black Sand Beach and 11 miles from Kalae (South Point). The inn also rests on the southern slopes of Mauna Loa, six miles from Naalehu.
The Plantation-style inn features large windows throughout, allowing natural light to flood in and reflect off of the polished hardwood floors. Complimentary, island-style breakfasts are served each morning, which include local fruits and Ka'u coffee. The library features a collection of books and comfortable seating, and there is a cello propped in the corner that adds to the delicate ambience of the inn. Hawaiian language classes are offered on Tuesdays and Kanikapila (music-playing) classes are offered on Thursdays. A variety of classes in the Hawaiian arts are also available.
Guestrooms features private bathrooms with large walk in rain showers and hardwood floors. Private lanais offer views of the mountains and the ocean.
