Description
Location. Known throughout Honolulu as the "Pink Palace," the Royal Hawaiian Hotel is one of Oahu's only historic luxury properties, and has one of the few private beaches in Waikiki. Opened in 1927, this turreted pink stucco hotel is positioned in the Historic District of Hawaii's capitol city, and places guests within one mile of Kapiolani Park, the Ala Wai Golf Course and the International Market Place. Hotel Features. Built in the Spanish Moorish tradition, this landmark hotel offers perhaps the most original hotel experience on the island. Beginning with lei greetings and oshi bori (refreshing cold towels) upon arrival, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel staff has a firm grasp on the concept of hospitality. On Monday evenings, the oceanfront lawn becomes the stage for a luau feast and Polynesian show with music and dancing. In addition to a private beach, the Royal Hawaiian features a 12 acre tropical garden, a full service spa and two pools that overlook the Pacific. With island cuisine in the hotel's showcase Surf Room, and light fare at the poolside beach club, guests have very little reason to leave the premises.
Guestrooms. The guest rooms in the Tower were recently remodeled, and feature contemporary furnishings, with spectacular views overlooking either the Coconut Grove, the Porte Cochere, the Royal Nursery or Waikiki Beach. The rooms in the historic wing of the hotel feature a traditional décor with Queen Anne style furnishings. In keeping with the pink theme of this hotel, the sheets and towels are also pink. To make guests feel even more at home, fresh baked banana bread is placed in the guestrooms on the first night of each stay.
Expert Tip. With an umbrella terrace and live Hawaiian music, the beachfront Mai Tai Bar is recognized for having invented the tropical drink of the same name. 2007 Sunsational Savings Complimentary Fourth Night: Book a four night minimum stay in a Sunsational Savings room category for travel through January 7, 2008 and receive a $75 dining credit and the fourth night is complimentary.
