We were impressed. Visited: December 2003

After traveling throughout the Caribbean, we decided to spend our ten-year anniversary in Hawaii, partly in Maui. We were a little worried about staying here since it wasn't a national chain and we did not hear about this resort.

But, boy were we so pleasantly surprised at the wonderful Maui Prince Resort. It was arguably the friendliest service we have ever seen. There were so many special touches like free valet parking, a room upgrade, and smiles and greeting from all we saw.

The grounds and beach were wonderful as well, but the service was what will make us choose Prince the next time we're in Hawaii.

The Prince was wonderful. Visited: October 2003

The Prince was a great place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone. We stayed here for half of our honeymoon.

The room was very pretty and the bed was very comfortable. We had a view of the ocean. The lobby was really pretty and the food was very good. We were in Kauai the week before and the food here was a lot better - especially at dinner.

The koi pond was fun. The massage was great. The beach was really nice and the snorkeling was fabulous. The pool was not so great, but the beaches on Maui made pools seem silly. It also wasn't crowded, which was great.

We were close enough to busy places, but this place was more quiet. The staff was really friendly. I also bought a robe because they were so soft. We felt very comfortable walking around in shorts and suits. It was not too stuffy, but still beautiful. We would return and stay here again anytime. We fell in love with Maui and the Prince helped.

The Maui Prince Makena is a nice place to stay. Visited: March 2003

My husband and I just got back from our nine-day stay at the Maui Prince. We have stayed at other Prince hotels and had high expectations for this visit.

The resort was in Makena, right outside of Wailea, and was the only hotel property that far down the main road. Because it was further out, the pace was slow, quiet and relaxed. There were no crowds here, which we liked.

There was valet parking, but you could park yourself for free as well, which was nice.

The hotel staff was polite and attentive, and always offered a friendly "hello" or "welcome back" after a long day at the beach.

The room wasn't as nice as I expected. The walls were stark white, with one picture on the wall, and the furniture was well used. The bathroom was nice and clean, but not nearly as nice as our last bathroom at a Prince resort on the big island. This one had a shower over a tub, and the tile was dated just like I had read in another visitor review on this site.

The welcome basket was nice, with chocolate, cookies and coffee. And our view was amazing. We had a full view of the ocean from our fifth floor partial view room.

The beach was really nice. They rented umbrellas out at this Prince resort for $15.00 a day, which suprised us since it was free at our last hotel. Otherwise, it was the same attentive staff, who was more than willing to help teach us how to kayak and told us great places to snorkel.

The grounds of this hotel were nice. The garden shown on their website with the stream and waterfall was beautiful, much more impressive in person, but once you left the grounds there wasn't much else.

All in all, I would stay here again. It was safe, quiet, clean and relaxed. But don't expect plush accommodations, I would call it comfortable, though.

An excellent price for a wonderful stay. Visited: May 2002

The Prince was an excellent place to stay.

My wife and I spent four days here in an ocean front room. The rooms were nice with large bathrooms and a separate shower. Each room had an ocean view with beautiful views of Kahoolawe and Molokini or West Maui.

The restaurants were great, but pricey (as we expected). The beach was not shared with any other hotels, so the crowds were minimal. Some of the best snorkeling on the island was just off to the left. Parking was free, as was valet parking.

We found all of the staff at the hotel to be extremely friendly. The hotel had amazing Japanese Gardens throughout. If you are looking for a fancy pool, this was not the place. It was nice, but nothing like the pools in other Wailea resorts.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was enclosed enough to enjoy the amenities of Wailea and Kihei, but far enough away to avoid large crowds. I rate it an A+, for the price we paid.

A 4-star hotel that treats you like a 5-star. Visited: April 2001

We got married here, and let me tell you, do it here and take the intimate dining experience—you'll regret it if you don't.

Free valet parking was a nice beginning. (The valet captain, Gerald, became my best man). We got upgraded thanks to the wedding coordinator who was great (Jasper Yun). Both restaurants are great. (Get the Entertainment Card because both restaurants are in it). The beach is sandy, and there’s a turtle sanctuary right off the beach, which is perfect for snorkeling. They have all the beach activities, and free introductory scuba lessons in the pool.

If you love golf this is a great place to stay. They store your clubs for you at Makena Golf Course (see "golfmagazine.com") for course reviews. The views from every balcony in the place are great. Rooms are clean and large. Not crowded like the more popular resorts. You have to do a walk through to believe it. We highly recommend this resort, and we'll always be staying here when we come to Maui. (In addition, they have the Preferred Club Membership, which is free and adds some nice touches.)

We spent a week at Prince and found it inferior to the many excellent properties on the Island.

I found the service good in the restaurants, but average to poor with the rest of the hotel staff. The rooms were clean, but simple, as was the whole hotel experience.
