Panache is an older beautiful maintained villa and very well equipped. Because of its age it has a first class spot looking over Rendevous Bay.
It is difficult to find an all AC villa with a heated pool Panache has both. The bedrooms are just about equal. However there is 1 bedroom with a little adjoining room ( used for younger children) in the main house, which has a splendid great room with huge doors that open out to that terrific view. The other bedrooms are across the veranda and are in a separate building via staircases. They are very private from one another, but would not be suitable for young children. (too far away ) Teens or other couples would find the privacy a plus. There is a self contained apartment under the pool deck via a staircase. The only drawback (at this date) is the dated little old TV in the great room. There was no cable while we were there. However there was a dvd player. No Tvs in any bedrooms.
The outdoor shower wasn't really outdoors, it just connected to a very narrow alley . Ask to have the pool heater started before you get there it took a day to get comfortable , even though this is an all-day sundeck. If this property had a hot tub and better tvs I would rate it a 5. This our 19 th trip to St. John...
Although the room was beautiful the service was terrible. There are many great places to stay on Vieques, pick another one. The fruit was old, bruised and mealy. The bread was bland or non-existent. The floor was filthy the day we arrived and dirty washcloths not replaced. For over $255.00 a night off season, not including taxes, one should expect more.
I went to this location 2 weeks ago on 6/30/08 & stayed there for the 1st time. Like any other person am a very skeptical when it comes to going to someplace new, yet I dared to go along with the comments being placed. I too found a web video of the Paloma guest house which helped me with my decision. Nilda the owner is a very friendly person who makes you feel like you're part of ther family. The place is fair clean consider it like it is your home away from home. You have your kitchen/stove/fridge/aircondition/tv. You come to stay here and sleep. Use the pool which is open all night and day as long as you don't go in the nude. The place is in the top of the mountain so no mosquitos there. Every morning there's a few mist of rain (remember is near rainforest). You view in one side the island and beach and the other the rainforest. Nilda comes from a decendant of the indians Taino so she may educate you about them. REMEMBER this is like a mini hotel/motel/home so don't expect grand. Nilda will clean the area and if need to have something changed she will do so. She is very pleasant and compliant. She even offers to cook for us. She does make sure we feel welcome. I got pic of the inside but I may put more of the area outside which I took. I just put these two for now to give u an idea of how it looks.
I have stayed at many different resorts in the Caribbean and I have to say that this is the best resort that I have ever stayed at. My husband and visited this resort last week to celebrate our honeymoon.
I was extremely impressed with the staff. Everyone that we dealt with was so friendly and helpful. We were very well taken care of. Every request that we had was addressed immediately. The staff is extremely competent.
The resort is very well maintained. The landscaping is gorgeous. The pools are beautiful. The rooms are a good size and very clean. The maids put fresh flowers in our room every day.
The food was fantastic. They have many different restaurants and each one features a different ethnicity. We ate at a different restaurant every night and we always left satisfied. We found La Pagoda to be our favorite although it was very hard to choose.
There were so many different bars/lounges to have a drink. Many places had couches to just lay and relax on. This resort has such a laid back atmosphere. At night, there was always something to do whether it be a show, the casino or a beach party.
The beach was beautiful and clean. There were plenty of chaise lounges so we never had a problem finding a chair.
This resort has everything that you would ever need for a vacation. For the seven days that we were there, my husband and I never left the resort-there was no need to!
I highly recommend this resort for your next vacation!
Everything was great, your staff, the villa, the Island and the weather. The whole vacation went off without a hitch. Will contact Andrew Macafee @ wheretostay.com to plan our trip next year. One week on St John is not long enough.
