| I checked my bed linen and it was stained and full of hair. The first two nights the heat did not work. We were ready to leave then but we decided to make the most out of it. The maitenance man came and fixed it but the next day it was still the same. So then the sup and then they fixed it finally after 3 days. The appliances were old and needed to be replaced. Shower on main level was nasty and full of ants. Not Satisfied at all | |

Okay if you're like me you're reading the reviews here and thinking twice about spending money at Sandals Royal Bahamian. My wife and I are in our mid 30's, professionals, each have extensive travel experience from top of the line resorts to flea-bag hotels in the middle of nowhere; we stayed in May of 2009 and stayed in the Royal Village Honeymoon Villa Suite. Since we'd had more than a few travel nightmares, we were both on our guard especially after having read the reviews on this site. We arrived at the airport to find our Rolls Royce transport from the airport was not available and were given a free ride in a rather dingy run-down limo. We took it in stride and were rewarded with a very quick check-in where we were greeted by our butlers given a personal escort around the resort and a brief introduction to the place. They did mention that they were the only service providers who could be tipped, but in retrospect, if you use them correctly they're worth the expense. We loved all three of ours, and one consistently went out of her way to take care of us. Was it 5 star to a US standard? No. But as in all things you get what you pay for. The top tier rooms are where they get their income, and they know it. If you can afford those rates you probably willl get the experience as advertised. My wife and I certainly did. If you go for one of the less expensive rooms, don't be surprised when you aren't constantly given VIP treatment. This is not to say that I ever saw any staff member act rudely or discourteously to anyone at the hotel. Everyone was exceedingly nice and helpful, especially when I came down with a flu bug on one of our last nights there. If you are a more independent type, I think you'll find that you can have just as much fun at a lower rate, the biggest benefit butler service provides is they will reserve a lounge chair for you by the pool. The choice seats are hard to come by, but there really aren't bad beach chairs. Okay here's the bottom line: First the Cons: This is an all inclusive resort, do not go expecting the Ritz Carlton. You will be disappointed. The clientele that frequent all-inclusives vary, but there will be the occasional person that will party a little too hard and do their best to ruin everyone elses' fun. But there are plenty of places to go to get away from everyone and relax. The drinks are usually decent, but some bartenders are better than others. Bugs are a way of life in any place tropical, but if the bar staff is not on their game, they swarm quickly around the wet bar. However, there are other bars to get your drinks, but none as convenient. The staff tries to keep up, but the pools occasionally would have flotsam and floating bugs a little more than I would have liked. Pros. Food, service, and location are beautiful. Alcohol is plentiful (if that's your thing) but don't expect top shelf. There is plenty to do in the immediate area, and it's a very short walk to the city shuttle to head into town. You can also hop on a ferry and go to the Atlantis nearby, but unless you have a desire to gamble or pay an exorbitant price to play at the water park it's not really worthwhile. Our room was fantastic, but not what I would call spacious. Never had problems with water pressure, hot water, electricity, weird smells, bar going empty, or food in short supply. Room amenities were modern, and looked new or nearly new. On checkout day, the hotel staff moved us into a basic level room so we could still enjoy the resort while we waited for our afternoon flight. The room looked like a standard US style double. And we couldn't find any faults other than a small stain on the carpet. Overall, we loved the experience, and would highly recommend it Last note: While the roaming camera people can be a little overbearing at times I would highly recommend you take advantage of them. The pictures they take are very professionally done, and easily match what we took on our wedding day. They aren't cheap, but many of the pictures taken we consider to be some of our most cherished.

From the time we arrived at the airport, to being dropped off there when leaving, Sandals made this a most memorable trip. My wife and I have vacationed at many islands and found this experience incredible. I had read several reviews online before we left, and made note of several of the potential problems. We encountered none of them. All personnel were very nice to speak with, and the service was outstanding. I can't understand where some of these reviews come from. We did upgrade to a suite with butler service, which turned out to be a great extra, but most everyone we met outside of our room were very helpful and pleasant. If you ever want to pamper the wife, consider the butler upgrade. Chauncey did a fantastic job with the turndown service. We were greeted with rose petals some nights, animals from towels, candles throughout the rooms and chilled champagne at the foot of the bed. Wow. We were very pleased with all the restaurants, especially Gordon's. Eating out, under the stars was a great experience, and the food was excellent. Everyone there seemed especially tentative. (Thanks Oswald, Michael, Brian and Chef George!) We also took advantage of the water activates: snorkel trip, scuba diving, Hoby-Cat and kayaking. Again, everyone we dealt with was wonderful. I had not been diving in two years, and they gave me a free refresher course in their dive pool. We will be back.

They have delicious food. There was plenty, and they had everything you might ever want. The staff was very friendly and hardworking. They took great care of us. Everything was clean, and the beach was often empty. We enjoyed our vacation here a lot, and are planning to come back.

Last February was my third and final trip to Atlantis. The first time I went I had a fantastic time with the beautiful slides, amazing drinks, and beautiful beaches. The second time was great as well. However, the third was a nightmare. To start off, the weather was bad. My 84-year-old grandmother got food poisoning and we had only eaten at Marketplace, Nobu and Murray's Deli. Nobu was delicious, and by far the best meal I had the whole vacation. However, it was insanely over priced. The kids love Marketplace because of the all-you-can-eat ice cream. However, the main food was not great. The deli was horrible. The third day of our stay, we heard drilling outside of our window. We complained, but nothing happened. We even took time off our vacation to write a letter to Atlantis explaining how we could not enjoy ourselves with construction outside. Yet, still nothing happened. The staff at Atlantis was terrible, and the rooms were not great. I did, however, meet some lovely people here. On the second to last day, my younger brother was riding the current river. It pushed him so far he banged his head, fell out the tube and had a concussion. Great way to end a vacation. Overall, it was not the best vacation. The beaches were great, as were the slides and parasailing. Everything else was not. I would go for the beach, but nothing else.

I just got back from spending a vacation at this place, and it was the worst vacation ever. I have been all over the world and I cannot say one nice thing about this place - including the airport, the accommodations, the food, the staff and service, and the weather. The spa was cold, and the pool over crowded from cruise ship patrons. The food tasted funny, was ridiculously over priced, and I had stomach problems the entire time. The staff was snotty in both the hotel and the shops. In addition, the amenities were non existent. The place was worn down, and supplies were limited. They were always running out of something. The place was an abomination of a hotel. Don't go - save your money. I would have had a more plush stay-cation!

I just got back from Sandals Royal Bahamian, and what a disappointment. You apparently have to book the restaurant, Bacarat, at least 48 hours in advance - their suggestion. I tried 56 hours in advance but nothing was available. We met four other couples there, and tried to have dinner together in the Crystal room. However, we were told we would have a limited menu - one meat, one chicken, and one fish entree to choose from. In addition, the Teppanyaki restaurant did not give us enough food, so after we ate there we went to the pub for a burger. All the food was simply average. There are only two beers to choose from - Miller Lite and Sands, a Bahamian beer. It was nearly impossible to get a lounge chair by either pool, even though we were there by 8 am. The faucet in our room leaked, and was very difficult to turn off. One evening, 7:00 or so, we had some music on in the room. Some cranky neighbor complained, and security left us a voicemail. In addition, we were not picked up in a Rolls, as promised, but a van that made stops at other resorts. The best thing about the resort was the weather and the private island. I would not return to this resort.

There was virtually no one there. The beach bar was there, but closed. Also, the restrooms were closed and in need of repair. There were maybe three to five cars in the parking lot. Who knows where they were. It does have the most beautiful beach, though! I can't figure out why it's empty.

Running Mon is now Sunrise Resort and Marina. Visited: October 2009 |

My friend and I wanted a weekend getaway where we could slip away from it all. We hopped on our boat looking for Running Mon, but learned that the owners changed the name and the property is up and running. We found the property to be clean, cozy, and comfortable; and the staff to be the most courteous. We met the General Manager, the fashionable and gracious Ta'Shar Cuccurullo. Her staff calls her "Mrs. C." They went out of their way to help us with everything. The free amenities more than made up for the distance from town. We used the kayak, worked out in the gym, did a little fishing and were even able to check our e-mail all for free. Would will definitely visit again. Sunrise Resort and Marina is now our home away from home when we visit Grand Bahama Island.

You'll find family fun at Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach. Visited: February 2009 |

This resort has one of the most gorgeous beaches you will ever visit. There were plenty of activities to participate in - especially for my three children (ages 10,12,and 14). Also, I think my American kids enjoyed hanging out with people from all over the world. The rooms were clean but uneventful. The staff was friendly and became part of the family. The check in can be difficult. The food was plentiful, and you can always find something that will please every family member. The pizza at night was tremendous! The drinks were well worthy, but after 3-4 you can't tell the difference. The walks along the beach were great, too. We have been back eight different times.

I really suggest you stay at another resort on Paradise Island and just do a day-trip to Atlantis. You'll get far more for your money. You'll get the essence of Atlantis and avoid overpriced rooms, overpriced meals, overpriced photos and bling. Atlantis is not a magical dream maker. It is a private money-maker, hungry for your next credit card swipe. If you decide to go, you'll be hit by a whole list of what might be unexpected charges--something like a cruise ship with its excursions and tips but far more expensive. Not only that, but the employees are short on smiles and helpfulness. You'll find that only when you have your credit card or cash in hand. So bring money, and plenty of it. Also, bring your own vacation enthusiasm, as Atlantis has its own priorities: money, money, money.

I stayed here two days, and somewhere along the line I got food poisoning. The resort was amazing, and everything was really nice. However, I would never ever go back because of the food problem I had. I ate at Nobu, Marketplace, Johnny Rockets and Murray's Deli. Now that I think of it, any of those meals could have caused it because they all tasted and seemed "off". I suggest you go to Vegas instead.

I would definitely stay here again. They had great rooms, a wonderful location, and the price was good. There were two pools and the ocean for swimming. It was close to anything and everything. We also received great service. The wedding on the beach here was beautiful, too. If you are coming to the Bahamas, look up Captain Kirk!

We stumbled upon Cocodimama after touring multiple hotels on the island. We were completely blown away. It was modern, fresh, stylish, romantic, comfortable, clean, beautiful and just perfect. The beds were amazing; the beach was superb; the restaurant was delicious; and the staff, owners, bartender and management were all fantastic. I recommend it all around as the ideal place to stay. I can't wait to go back.

The pictures on the internet were completley misleading. As far as this hotel, or should I say "motel", the first thing that came to mind was "disgusting". The room had this old musty smell, and the AC until blew hot air. This was not a nice place at all.

We stayed in the Royal Towers, and enjoyed a room with a great view. We watched the yachts, the sunsets, and the sunrises! The hotel staff was very attentative, and the food was great. The Bahamians were friendly, the room was very clean, and we felt safe. In addition, the casino was fantastic! Slots paid! The blackjack dealers were kind of slow, but fun! It was more friendly here than in Atlantic City. The dealers were very friendly, and we felt comfortable playing. This will be a yearly vacation for sure. It was our fifth trip!

It took one hour to check in, yet another full hour to get my luggage. The room was filthy. There was large machinery on the beach blocking the view. It was impossible to get a drink in the bar - or for that matter a glass of tea with a meal. They served liquor I have never heard of. The employees were rude, impossilby slow, and distracted. I called the manager three times, and never recived a call back. I will never return to any Sandals - at any price.

The Comfort Suites was a great deal, and we had an amazing time! It was cheaper than staying at Atlantis, but we still got full access to everthing Atlantis had to offer! It was right on the property, so we didn't have to walk far. We could also buy drinks at Atlantis with our Comfort Suites room key. I am staying here again this year, and I strongly recommend it to others! Happy travels!

I came here with my girlfriend, my brother, and his girlfriend. When we first got here, it took literally five hours to get our room. They wouldn't put the bags in a seperate room while we were waiting for a room, so we had to constantly go back over there and check them. The rooms were okay. They were definitely rooms older guests would not enjoy. I am 20 years old, so it was okay for me. Some of the staff were rude, but most were cool. Drinks were weak, but enough of them would get you silly. The best thing for me was that there were a lot of people our age (20-30). We met some good people on this trip, which made it enjoyable. The price also wasn't bad for what we got. The buffet every night was okay. We didn't get a chance to do reservations for the two inclusive restaraunts because we could only do it between 10-11 am (which didn't make sense). I would say overall it was a good time. If you are young and ready to party, you will like it.
