5.0 stars This is a hidden gem. Visited: April 2009

I have been traveling to St. Maarten for 26 years and found this to be the nicest place at which I have stayed. The planes coming and going weren't a bother to us at all. We stayed for two weeks in April 2009, and after just a few short days didn't even hear the planes anymore. One reviewer stated that the planes come and go until 11 pm. We didn't find that to be true at at all.

The water was a little rough the weeks we were here, but we just went to the pool for a while and cooled off. I enjoyed this place so much I am already booked for 2010 and 2011. Thanks, Yolanda, for having such a great place in my favorite home away from home.

4.0 stars This was a great place to stay. Visited: April 2004

All the villas were exceptionally well decorated – no junk furnishings could be found on this property. Yolanda, the owner, took great pride in furnishing these villas and she has a keen eye on decorating with that Caribbean flavor.

There were absolutely all the conveniences we needed here – cable TV, microwave, coffee pot, fridge with ice trays, A/C where we needed it ( in the bedrooms ); fully equipped kitchen, CD player, roomy bathrooms, and even a BBQ propane grille in the Atrium.

We had a wonderful time. The people that run the villas were very nice and helpful. We stepped out the back door and were right on the beach.

The airport was in our front yard. The planes started at 7:05 am and stopped around 9:00 pm. It didn't make any difference to me because I love watching the planes.

You have got to try it.

5.0 stars We enjoyed this Caribbean villa. Visited: November 2003

We spent another wonderful week in St. Maarten at Beachside Villas. With the wide choices of all kinds of accommodations available on the island, we have found ourselves coming back to this little private enclave year after year.

What draws us back is that the Villas are located near one of the most popular areas for dining, entertaining and other day and night time activities. But at the same time, when you finally had enough of the crowds, a very short ride takes you back to your own very private enclave.

There are no crowds, beautiful and almost private two miles beach right at your doorstep, and a gorgeous view of Simpson Bay. You can watch cruise ships disappearing into sunset right from your own covered porch.

The Villas are very well equipped and decorated. The back wall opens up with three huge sliding glass doors onto covered deck with only few steps taking you right down on the beach and 50 feet from the turquoise water.

The full staff of housekeepers and gardeners keep Villas and the grounds immaculate. The manager lives right on the property and is available for any kind of assistance. There is also hired security on the grounds from sunset to sunrise.

Beachside Villas are located very close to the airport and you can watch airplanes landing and taking off from the platform at the edge of the property. You do hear noise from the airplanes, but it did not bother us, as the most of the big jet arrivals takes place from the early to late afternoon, with only occasional planes coming in from 7 in the morning till about 8-9 at night. With most of the flights coming in on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, air traffic considerably dies down on weekdays.

So for a tradeoff for some airport noise, you will get very reasonably priced, very private and comfortable accommodations right on the beach with a short drive to everything. We love it and will be going back again next year. We cannot wait!

5.0 stars Beachside Villas is Paradise! Visited: April 2003
Posted by sidsplace
My family and I have just completed our fifth year at Beachside Villas. For us, it is our little island paradise. Getting up in the morning and having coffee on our deck, just 100 feet from the beautiful Caribbean is a great way to start the day.

The two-mile white sand beach is ideal for long walks or jogging. The ocean waves are not bad and you can easily swim and wave ride if you prefer. Personally, I enjoy spending my time at the pool, which is ideal to catch the sun and watch the seven or eight daily jet flights land and take off. Typically, the passenger jets don't start until about noon each day and end about 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm. It is facinating to see a 747 up close. The noise is not a problem.

The villas are beautiful, well appointed and have most every convenience imaginable. Telephones are the exception, but they will provide you with a rental cell phone, if you really need to be in touch with the outside world. The Beachside staff is warm, friendly and caring, and respond to your every need.

If I sound somewhat predjudice about Beachside, I am. From the first year I found it, to my most recent visit, it is my paradise in the sun.

1.0 stars Should be named Runway Villas. Visited: February 2003

Beachside Villas could easily be renamed Runway Villas. The complex borders the fence next to the runway. There's even an observation deck so you can watch the planes take off and land. No need for an alarm clock since the airport opens at 7:00AM and the jets start rolling in. The villas themselves are not bad. Only two bathrooms for a three-bedroom place did cause some problems.

The beach is right outside the back patio. The problem is that it's usually too rough to swim there in the winter. The noise from the waves crashing on the shore gets old after awhile. Not the best place to stay if you want peace and quiet. I usually stay on the French side, but this trip was booked by some friends from the United States who were misled by the booking agent.

5.0 stars This is our favorite after 19 years of vacationing in St. Maarten! Visited: April 2002

In 19 years of staying all over the island, including Maho, the Royal Islander, Flamingo and many more, we love Beachside Villas.

We've never been awakened once by the planes, and find watching them take off and land very exciting-especially the Air France. Also, the beach is right outside your door.

We always go in April and it's never too rough. The pool, staff and quality of the rooms is extradinary! We're returning in ten days and can't wait to get there. This will be our fifth time at Beachside and it won"t be our last.

1.0 stars This property is adjacent to the airport - noisy!!! Visited: January 2002

While Beachside Villas is beautiful, the airport noise makes it unbearable. The property is right next to the runway, with planes taking off and landing from 7 am until 11 pm. If that sounds like your idea of peaceful, you might enjoy it. Felt it was way overpriced.
