5.0 stars This was a great place - and lots of fun. Visited: July 2005

This was a wonderful place to stay. I only stayed for five days, but I had so much fun that it seemed longer than that.

The beach and a lot of shopping places were nearby - even the zoo was within walking distance. My family didn't even worry about renting a car beacause it was not necessary.

I am 17 years old, and I highly recommend this condo. It was clean, fun, peaceful, and had a great view.

1.0 stars I didnt like the Banyan. Visited: April 2002

Last summer i spent 9 days at the Banyan hotel with my family. Although we had alot of fun on day trips to place sliek Hanama Bay, i did not enjoy the banyan at all. The owrst thing about it is that is is not on a beach. It is on a small side street where u have to walk five minutes to get to waikiki beach. Not to mention it isn't exactly in the best location! While i stayed ther ei noticed all of the other hotels on waikiki that where nice and very luxurious and i asked myself time and time again why we had chosen this hotel. I never figured out that answer, but now all i can do is recommend that other people don't stay there, because trust me when you get there you would much rather be someplace else.

5.0 stars We stay three weeks each summer. Visited: July 2001

My wife teaches a course at the University of Hawaii. We stay at the Banyon because of its location and because we found someone on the internet who lets us use their condo.

The Banyon is great - they have great rooms with spectacular views. The recreation deck is also wonderful - tennis on the roof, a heated pool, a hot tub, and electric grills. There is plenty of room for a party.

Also, the place is spotless, the elevators are very fast and efficient, and we love the covered parking. The condo we use also comes with a parking pass. There are plenty of places to park - all safely inside.

The Banyon has an open air lobby with very nice employees. I have sent several friends to the Waikiki Banyon. You are close to the zoo, the aquarium, the beach, the canal, golfing, the public library, and the Waikiki Health Center is next door.

This place is not fancy, but it is very nice. We love the corner apartments with the window in the shower - it has great ventilation.

2.0 stars Watch out for the parking policy. Visited: May 2001

The hotel is wonderful for families, as it has lots of room. It is a bit away from the major shopping areas, but the beaches, one block away, do not have as many people as the beaches near the Royal Hawaii.

One big complaint is the parking. This very confusing system requires you to pay first. If you stay for a week, no problem, you pay 30 dollars and you are good to go. But if you stay for 4 or 5 days, the daily rate is $5 per day, but you cannot buy a ticket for 4 or 5 days. You have to renew the ticket every 24 hours. If you happened to miss the 24 hours deadline you are charged an additional $5 dollars. Then you also have to pay the daily rate again when you come back to the garage.

So if you stay do not use the garage. It’s a dumb policy and the attendants say things like, “I don't make the policy, if you are not happy don't park here.” It’s not the attendant’s problem, but it is a strange and confusing policy, which makes guests confused and upset. Enough so, that I would not recommend this property if you are renting a car during your vacation.
