St. Barts villa expert

Know Before You Go...

Surrounded by well-tended tropical gardens, this villa may as well be in the middle of a rainforest, but the modern furnishings, and convenient location, just 10 minutes from town, keeps it from being too remote. You'll be well taken care of with daily maid service and access to a concierge. The infinity pool is a big draw; you'll feel like you are swimming off the edge of the cliff and into the ocean below. The patio areas have retractable awnings so you're in control of the amounts of sun that get through. For a really special treat, take a cocktail outside to watch the sun set over the water.

Perfect for 2 couples

An ocean away from its namesake, Villa Capri shares much of that charming Mediterranean island’s dolce far niente—the “sweet art of doing nothing,” which is so beloved by Italians—and its sprezzatura, or the ability to do something difficult but make it look like nothing. The luxury property is the kind of place that invites you to slow down, take it easy and simply breathe—but to feel effortlessly chic while doing it. Yet for all that worldliness, the home is undeniably a part of St. Barth, both in terms of its convenient location in Pointe Milou and in terms of its Caribbean spirit.

The main living spaces are bright and airy, all cool beige tile floors and simple white furnishings under a high, peaked ceiling and open through a fully retractable wall to the terrace beyond. The air-conditioned main living room blurs into a dining area and bar, before a door leads to a separate galley kitchen. Softly scalloped edges on the slipcovers, and in the bedcovers in the sleeping quarters, lend Villa Capri a gently feminine air, while the cheerful splashes of coral-colored fabric and the sleek stainless steel poles that support the terrace’s sheer awning and form the railings around its edges prevent anything from feeling too delicate. This is a home where couples traveling together or small families can feel completely at ease.

Situated for prime sunset views, the terrace is designed around a plunge swimming pool with an infinity edge that’s perfect for cooling off during a sweet afternoon of doing nothing. A group of sunbeds invites you to linger on one side of the pool, while a small dining table beckons for breakfast or snacks. But should you crave a livelier scene outside this cocoon, the Christopher Hotel is just a brief walk or one-minute drive away, and is a good choice for lunch, dinner or a treatment at the Sisley spa, one of the island’s best.

The two main bedrooms are located on either side of the living room and have dreamy four-poster king beds, private bathrooms and beguiling views. A smaller, simpler third bedroom downstairs has its own entrance and bathroom, and is suitable for teenage children or a nanny.
