Chateau La Tete Rouge Villa is relaxation at its best. Many of the rooms in this 3-bedroom (plus loft) villa open directly onto the covered deck creating a blended indoor and outdoor living space. The flowering trees and shrubs surrounding Chateau La Tete Rouge give the air a pleasant fragrance all year round. Nearby are Rendezvous and Fish Bays, along with Hart and Monte. While the Chateau holds the promise of privacy, it is also just minutes away from Cruz Bay and the many ethnic restaurants, entertainment venues, bars, and shops.
Chateau La Tete Rouge, a French phrase meaning "The Red-Headed Castle," is appropriately named for its ruby-red glazed roof tiles that catch the sunlight. Located approximately ten minutes from downtown Cruz Bay, in the luxury estate community of Point Rendezvous, Chateau La Tete Rouge overlooks St. John's south shore.
Set on the hillside directly above Klein Bay, this villa's large verandas also overlook Hart, Monte, Rendezvous, and Fish Bays. Because of the hillside locale, it's easy to enjoy the breezes while sitting out in any of the many patio chairs or rockers. Look out at the views of Ditlif Point peninsula and watch the occasional small boats drifting just off Ditlif's beaches.
It is just six steps down from Chateau La Tete Rouge Villa's main entrance and terrace to the pool and hot tub patio. Hibiscus, Allamanda, and Bougainvillea flowers, as well as banana and palm trees, surround the pool, overlooking the southern shore. Two contoured stone lounge seats are sculpted several inches under the water in the pool's shallow end. Both seats face towards the west sun. A cabana with a dressing room, bathroom, and shower are located poolside. There is an extended roof attached to the cabana when it's time to take a break from the sun.
The living, dining, and kitchen areas of Chateau La Tete Rouge Villa are defined by seven large brick arches and a vaulted ceiling that allow the natural beauty of St. John to flow inside and fill the rooms. Four arches open out to the roof-covered upper veranda. It takes only the press of a switch to bring their doors securely down into place. The remaining three archways have built-in double glass doors that open out to the shaded terrace that sits above the pool and hot tub.
Recently renovated, Chateau La Tete Rouge Villa offers luxury and complete comfort. Its yellow and cream colors are subtle and serene. The furniture and ornamentations are crafted out of dark toned woods, wicker, rattan, and bamboo, which create a tropical atmosphere. There is an Indo-Pacific as well as a Caribbean influence to the decor, as evidenced best by a dramatic jungle wall mural in the villa's entryway. Privately commissioned for Chateau La Tete Rouge Villa, this three-sectioned work of art is in full view of the hexagon shaped glass and bamboo dining table.
Chateau La Tete Rouge sleeps eight. There are three large bedrooms and a loft area which is accessed by a spiral staircase. The cool blue-green colored Master Suite is located on the main floor and has high ceilings and arched double glass doors that lead out to a large private sundeck. The attached bath is spacious and accommodates a walk-in shower alcove. The shower head is positioned above a wide arched wooden door that can be fully opened outward. This allows for private open-air bathing in the warm sun and you can enjoy the trade winds while looking at the views of the sea. The loft bedroom above the living room has a jungle motif with two twin beds and roll-down shades for privacy.
There are two separate entrances to the large Lilly and Plantation bedrooms—each with its own large bathroom. The turquoise Lilly room, with its king bed, TV, and VCR is decorated in white and assorted island pastels. Its adjacent bathroom contains a vanity set under a six-foot-wide mirror. The celery-green Plantation room has dark West Indies style furniture and a queen-sized sleigh bed that faces double French doors that overlook the Caribbean Sea. This large room includes a newly constructed white tiled bath that has gold marble accents in the shower. The two lower level bedrooms are accessed by a wide stone staircase which curves downward to another covered porch. Outdoor couches and tables provide a retreat for reading or relaxing away from the activities of the upstairs spaces.
Swim, hike, sail, and dine out at world class restaurants. Dance to reggae rhythms; or maybe just splash in your own pool, grill up some Caribbean snacks, and lounge around with a frosty drink. With sea breezes, daily sunshine, and ocean views, let St. John and the private Chateau La Tete Rouge Villa offer an escape from everyday life.
