Darcini is a spacious, gracious and elegant five-bedroom villa that consists of a three level main house with three bedrooms, plus a one level, two-bedroom guest house located just behind the pool. Both the main house and the guest house have whisper quiet central a/c. The lower level of the main house is actually a house (apartment) within a house, with its own private living, dining and kitchen areas, plus a handsome bedroom and tiled bath. It also has its own separate entrance. Exterior stairs lead from the parking area up to the second level and the main house great room, which contains the living, dining and kitchen areas that are shared by the other four bedrooms. The second level also contains the second bedroom, located off the great room. Both the first and second levels of the main house have large covered balconies that wrap around the south and west sides of the main house. The third level of the main house is reserved for just the master bedroom and its lovely oversized bath, both of which are accessed from interior stairs that are off the great room. The pool, sundeck and a two-bedroom guest house are a few steps up from the great room balcony. The guest house contains two very similar bedrooms that open to a covered porch.
The kitchen is roomy and elegant with mahogany cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen runs much of the length of the living room, and is separated from the living room by a long granite and mahogany bar and counter. As you would expect for a home of this caliber the kitchen is well furnished and includes a gas oven and stove with a ventilator hood, a side by side refrigerator freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster coffeemaker and all the appliances you require plus loads of cabinet space filled with cookware, server ware and dinnerware.
The gas barbeque grill is located behind the kitchen in a lovely gazebo setting that is paved with antique brick and bordered by colorful bougainvillea cascading over a stone wall. The BBQ gazebo includes a small wet bar, counter space and a mini refrigerator. The person responsible for grilling is going to love this barbeque gazebo.
The plantation style living room is both classic and beautiful, with four sets of gorgeous arched mahogany screened doors, a cathedral ceiling, stone half walls and a terra cotta tiled floor. This traditional living room also includes some modern features that add comfort to the traditional ambiance, such as comfy furniture, central a/c, and a 50” TV and sound system.
The interior dining room is located on the left side of the great room is also bordered by handsome stone half walls. The antique mahogany table comfortably seats eight, ten in a pinch. There is also a dining table that seats 4-6 on the covered balcony off the living room.
Darcini is located in a private and quiet hillside setting in the neighborhood of Fish Bay, on the south side of St. John. This stately villa sits on a large tranquil lot, which you’ll notice when you turn off the access road and on to the long gated driveway that takes you up to the villa. The views from the pool, sundeck and the villa all look south into the rolling green hills of the south coast of St. John, but you have only a very limited water view (see photos). It’s a 10-15 minute drive into Cruz Bay on the scenic road that runs along St. John’s south shore.
