Cooper Island is a small island near the larger islands of South Georgia and Tortola. The island is part of the Sister Island chain, and has not yet been overrun with large hotels and resorts, so it retains much of its natural beauty. There are accommodations on the island, but choice is very limited. You may want to stay on Tortola and come over for the day.
Diving is the main attraction on Cooper Island with long expanses of sandy beaches and an abundance of coral reefs teeming with exotic sea life right offshore. The waters around Cooper Island are warm and clear giving an extraordinary range of vision underwater. Its common to spot huge sea turtles, colorful and exotic fish, and the beautiful coral reefs.
The Cooper Island Beach Club has a beautiful black Labrador named Lady Bella that has the run of the island. She loves to greet guests and play catch in the sand. A well-recognized resident of Cooper Island, Bella is very friendly, and safe to approach, but please don’t feed her.
If you visit Cooper Island between January and March, you may be treated to pods of Humpback Whales as they migrate near the island. The island is also a great place to stage a wedding on the beach. The long stretches of deserted beaches offer a host of unspoiled backdrops for a beautiful seaside ceremony.
