Fine food with a local flair. There is a very informal vibe yet the food is quality. Its less expensive than comparable restaurants as its not on the water but well worth a visit. If you like the taste of pate this is the place to order it. For main meal the seafood pasta is my favorite. It can be a little hot inside so for those schorching days make sure they seat you outdoors.

    • Atlantis Hotel Restaurant

People have been stopping by for lunch with a view here since 1945, when Mrs. Enid Maxwell bought this property, a quaint, 19th-century seaside hotel. New owners have kept up Mrs. Maxwell's tradition -- all Bajan cuisine that complements the natural environment. Each Wednesday and Sunday the enormous buffet includes pumpkin fritters, rice and peas, breadfruit casserole, steamed fish creole, oven-barbecued chicken, pepper pot, macaroni pie, ratatouille, and more. Homemade coconut pie tops the dessert list. The Atlantis is a lunch stop for organized day tours, so it sometimes get crowded. Atlantis Hotel, Tent Bay, Bathsheba, St. Joseph.

      Barbados
      246 435 7246
    • Bellini's Trattoria

Classic northern Italian cuisine is the specialty at Bellini's, on the main floor of the Little Bay Hotel. The atmosphere here is smart-casual -- as appropriate for a family meal as for a romantic dinner for two. Toast the evening with a Bellini cocktail (ice-cold sparkling wine with a splash of fruit nectar) and start your meal with bruschetta, an individual gourmet pizza, or perhaps a homemade pasta dish with fresh herbs and a rich sauce. If you're not already stuffed, move on to the signature garlic shrimp entrée or the popular chicken parmigiana -- then top it all off with excellent tiramisu. We recommend making your reservations early; request a table on the Mediterranean-style verandah to enjoy one of the most appealing dining settings on the south coast. Address: Little Bay Hotel, St. Lawrence Gap, Dover, Christ Church.

n 2006, owner Chiryl Newman relocated her popular restaurant and watering hole to an elegant old Bajan home renovated into a beautiful seaside restaurant -- on a quiet lane just off the main South Coast road in Rockley. Luncheon guests -- about 75% local businesspeople -- enjoy repasts such as char-grilled beef salad, Champers fish pie, grilled barracuda, or chicken and mushroom fettuccine napped in a creamy chardonnay sauce. Dinner guests enjoy dishes such as the roasted rack of lamb with spring vegetables and mint-infused jus, the sautéed sea scallops with stir-fried vegetables and noodles with red Thai curry sauce, and the Parmesan-crusted barracuda with whole-grain mustard sauce. The portions are hearty and the food is well seasoned with Caribbean flavors, "just the way the locals like it," says Newman. The cliff-top setting overlooking Accra Beach offers diners a panoramic view of the sea and a relaxing atmosphere for daytime dining. At night, particularly at the bar, there's a definite buzz in the air. Nearly all the artwork gracing the walls is by Barbadian artists and may be purchased through the on-site gallery.
