Conveniently located just two miles south of the quaint village of San Pedro is the luxury boutique resort Victoria House. Situated on Ambergris Caye, it’s enveloped by luxuriant gardens and boasts waterfront vistas of the cerulean Caribbean.
The plantation style main building is comprised of State Rooms, Plantation Rooms and Plantation Suites which are located on the second floor. Guests access rooms by a wrap-around balcony overlooking tropical gardens, flour white beaches and a beachfront swimming pool and patio.
Opt for a stay in one of the ten thatch-roofed cabañas or Casitas and get your own private verandah. Cabanas include mahogany beds draped in custom mosquito netting enabling you to enjoy the cool evening breezes. Each unit is air conditioned – if you prefer cooling down that way. Only the beach and lawn separate you from stepping into the Caribbean. Cabanas are available with a queen or two singles beds.
Caribbean Plantation style interiors are air-conditioned with verandahs that overlook the ocean. These bedrooms are elegantly decorated with a Queen or King bed and a private bathroom.
The Rainforest Suite or Honeymoon Suite is only fifty feet from the waters edge with a wrap around furnished verandah. This private unit features a spacious room with jungle décor and wall frescos painted by a renowned local artist. Floor to ceiling louvered windows on three sides, air conditioning, and ceiling fans provide all the cool air you could wish for.
The single story two-bedroom villa with vaulted hardwood ceilings is located on the white sand palm shaded beach. Bedrooms and the living area open onto the spacious hardwood deck overlooking the beach. What better spot to enjoy an island sunrise over the barrier reef? One bedroom includes a king bed, while the other two offer queen beds. The living area also has a pullout double sofa.
Victoria House also features a spacious three-bedroom, two level plantation house. The main floor master bedroom includes a custom bamboo queen bed and an en-suite master bath with tub and shower. The living room, dining room and kitchen all open onto an oversized covered verandah furnished with wicker and mahogany furniture. Upstairs are two privately accessed bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, air conditioning and furnished with two double beds or one double and single. A shared balcony overlooks the beach and barrier reef. This lovely house can also be taken as a Master Suite, or may be utilized as three separate Plantation Rooms.
While it might be difficult to leave Victoria House, venturing into San Pedro is recommended. This charming village offers souvenir shopping, art galleries and a variety of oceanfront restaurants and barefoot beach bars.
