Nelson Gay House offers 1.5 acres of mature, lush gardens on a half-mile stretch of Godings Bay. This charming, sophisticated villa is ideal for families seeking beachfront luxury.
Crystal clear waters and coral reefs lie just beyond the villa’s backyard. This bay is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and strolling on sunbathed afternoons. The villa’s 50-foot pool rests in the center of the manicured lawn and features a unique, marine-inspired design depicted in Italian mosaic tiles. Loungers, an al fresco dining table, and towering palm trees surround the pool. A spacious gazebo with lighting and ocean views is nestled amongst the lush foliage, while an al fresco dining set and living area rest beneath the open-air verandas on either side of the villa’s back entrance.
Inside the coral stone mansion, art deco-inspired floor tiles and stone walls add coolness and elegance to the common areas. Nelson Gay was originally built for a United States Ambassador in the 1950s, and its 14-foot ceilings exude refined grandeur. This family-friendly villa offers a bevy of formal and relaxed lounges, dining areas, and sleeping quarters. The staff includes a cook, laundress, housekeeper, and butler.
Each of Nelson Gay’s bedrooms has an ensuite bathroom and air-conditioning. In the Main House, there are two master suites with king beds, satellite TVs, and full ensuite bathrooms. One of the master suites shares a bathroom with the adjacent twin suite, which is perfect for young children. In the fourth suite, there is a queen bed, satellite TV, a mini fridge, and an ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower. The fifth suite offers two twin beds, satellite TV, a mini fridge, an ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower, and a private terrace. The final Main House suite has a queen bed, satellite TV, and a private terrace. Each of the Chattel Houses have a king suite with exterior access only. In the cottage, there is a king suite with a TV, mini fridge, exterior access only, and an ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower.
Nelson Gay House enjoys a convenient location in Speightstown within walking distance of groceries and restaurants. Tennis courts, a gym, and a spa are available next door at the Cobblers Cove Hotel (additional cost).

Perfect in Every Way!
Nelson Gay House, Barbados villa review
My family group of 11 people ranging in age from 1 to 82 spent a week this December at Nelson Gay House. This was to celebrate my 60th birthday (a year late). We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect week. We spent every waking moment outside. From our morning coffee to breakfast to relaxing on the lounges under a tree to the pool to the beach…and that’s just the morning. All drinks, meals outside prepared and served to us by the most wonderful staff.
The villa is beautiful, the grounds and location are spectacular. Sunset drinks every evening.
We felt safe and secure and under these crazy circumstances, felt no need to leave the property. We had rented a car which we used once. It was not needed at all.
Andrew was great to work with leading up to the trip and checked in on us while we were away.
If you’re looking for somewhere to go with a group and you want to relax and have everything taken care of for you, you will be extremely happy at Nelson Gay.

One of a kind!
Nelson Gay House, Barbados villa review
Nelson Gay has it all. A warm inviting space both inside and out. We were able to relax by the large pool, go snorkeling right outside the gate in calm waters, walk into Speightstown or to Mullins Bay, and use the facilities next door at Cobblers Cove. Each bedroom was well appointed, two had their own private patios. The grounds were spectacular, with mature fruit and palm trees, and bamboo where monkeys would sit and sway in the wind! The size and scope of the yard set this villa apart from the others. Nelson Gay has the feel of a loved home, with personal touches throughout. The staff was warm and professional.. The chef even made us lunch to take with us to the airport! The chattel houses are adorable and can be used for large groups, great for families. Speaking of families, the house has snorkeling equipment and boogie boards, and lots of games and books, a media room and a Sonos system for music. We highly recommend Nelson Gay.
We never have any issues with Andrew, a pleasure to work with.
