Dining out is kind of a given when you're on vacation, and on St. Croix you have tons of choices. Whether you want familiar comfort food like burgers and pizza, spicy Creole fare, or local Caribbean flavors, there's a restaurant to satisfy your taste buds. Of course, you can also opt for fresh seafood, and you'll find some the best at the Lobster Reef Café, serving up seafood, steaks, and more for lunch and dinner. If you have chosen a villa on St. Croix, there are some meals you can prepare, or have prepared, right in your villa. But, when you're on vacation, take advantage of eating out as much as possible.
The former Morning Glory has a new owner Anna Casador, who has given the cafe a New England flavor. It has built up a loyal following of residents and return tourists.
There is a new focus on homemade pastries, as Anna makes wedding cakes for the Buccaneer and Carambola resorts. In Caribbean colors of purple and sunflower yellow, the cafe remains a popular place for breakfast, offering the likes of bacon and egg on a flaky croissant. For lunch, rub elbows with the locals who come on a routine basis for the turkey clubs and juicy hamburgers.
Located at the Gallows Bay Market Place in Christiansted, Anna's a great place for a light fare. For lunch, choose a wrap or sandwich filled with veggies, cheeses, and sliced meats. Anna's famous chicken salad (made with walnuts and grapes) is popular, too. For breakfast, feast on waffles, beignets, croissants, and eggs cooked any way you like. Smoothies are a house specialty.
