Know Before You Go...®

Marbella offers handicap-accessible living high on a St. John hillside. Everything is on one level, which is rare for the island, and there are two king suites with equal amenities rather than having a traditional master suite. The villa feels secluded, but is only a short drive from dining and shopping in Cruz Bay.

Great family-friendly layout!

Marbella enjoys panoramic ocean views from its elevated position above Cruz Bay. As one of the few one-level homes on St. John, this villa is perfect for multi-generational families or older couples.

There’s ample space to sunbathe and relax on Marbella’s ocean-facing terrace. The columned pergola shades an al fresco dining table, the breakfast nook, and a barbecue grill. A few steps away, there are loungers and a rectangular lap pool with full sun and unobstructed views. Gorgeous sunsets over Cruz Bay mark the end of each day. Marbella offers elegant living spaces and an open-concept design. Vaulted ceilings, airy curtains, and terra cotta tiled floors outfit the common area. Blue suede armchairs and sofas furnish the living room, which also has a flatscreen TV with ROKU programming. The adjacent dining table seats six guests. In the gourmet kitchen, there is mahogany cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and vibrant mosaic backsplash. Marbella has three bedrooms and a loft, all on the main level. Each suite has interior and exterior access, ocean views, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower and two sinks. There are two king suites on opposite ends of the home, and the third suite has two twin beds. The third suite also offers a comfortable sleeping loft with a full size bed.

Marbella sits high on the mountainside in the Virgin Grand Estates only 10 minutes from shops, restaurants, and beaches. Rendezvous Bay is a short drive away, so guests can easily explore St. John’s southern beaches.

Marbella Villa, St. John villa review

Multiple time visitor to St. John but first time staying at Marbella Villa or in theVirgin Grand Estates for that matter. The house was perfect. So well stocked. We never lacked a thing when we needed it. Able to cook anything in the beautiful kitchen. The outdoor area was perfect for morning coffee (or mimosas) and evening sunsets and cocktails. We only had 4 adults but the house would be perfect for families as well. The pool was great for relaxing—nice to have floaties supplied. Beach chairs came in handy, and they were perfect. Very safe area as it’s in a gated community.

Working with Andrew was easy! He was always very prompt in answering my questions and always very helpful with advice

Marbella Villa, St. John villa review

Villa Marbella is a beautiful home. The inside is gorgeous, spacious, has a perfect layout for a large family and met our needs perfectly! The outside needs some work. The outdoor furniture by the bedroom was extremely worn, broken and dirty. Nothing like the pictures. The patio around the pool could use a power wash. The views could be breath taking if you could see through the trees. It has had a lot of growth since the pictures were taken and the view was not as pictured. The neighbors on the right side are very, very close and were playing loud music one evening, with poor language and we have young children. We asked them to turn it down and they made it louder, so that was unfortunate. We made the best of it and went into town but beware if you end up with rude neighbors. Upon arrival, we noticed the oven wasn’t working. We contacted the management company, and they said they would send someone out to take a look. Rather than fixing the oven they turned off the power to the entire home. We arrived back from the beach to no power at all. We thought the island was out but quickly realized it was not. We called again to report the power issue, and the oven was still not working. We ended up turning the power back on (panel switch) reported the oven issue again and someone came out and just shut the power again. We turned the panel switch on again and just dealt with it as it was Christmas eve and didn’t want to bother anyone again. There was a toaster oven which we made work but was not ideal. These were important details that were overlooked, especially for the cost of the villa over the holiday and should have been addressed prior to our arrival. If these things are taken care of the house will not disappoint you.

Great!

Marbella Villa, St. John villa review

Overall we were pleased with the villa experience. We were not happy with the check-in process. The house was hot when we arrived. Someone left a fabulous welcome gift of meats and cheeses in our refrigerator but it had to be discarded. The refrigerator was frozen up, hot and not operating. That was the first thing that had to be repaired upon our arrival. The house was hot as none of the AC’s or fans were on. We were also told that two of the ceiling fans did not operate but they in fact worked. After the initial check-in process, the house was fine. Need someone who actually knows the villa to be present at time of check-in and we would expect at the $10K+ expense that the villa would have been better prepared for our arrival. We would not stay in this villa again. Cost vs value wasn’t there for us.

Our experience with Shawna and WhereToStay was great. Every question or concern we had was handled in a quick and courteous manner.
