La Bagatelle Villa, St. Lucia reviewVisited: June 2011
My wife and I stayed in La Bagatelle for our honeymoon, and we were extremely pleased with the villa and our stay in general.
I wasn't quite sure how the view would be from the villa [which was one of my main interests] as it was tough to find pictures. However, the moment we arrived at the villa, I was absolutely blown away. The view of the Pitons and the ocean was breathtaking from La Bagatelle. In addition, La Bagatelle sits just off the main road to the Anse Chastenet resort and Jade Mountain.
Because all beaches are public, we would drive down to the beach [less than five minutes] and spend the day there snorkeling and lounging. We even enjoyed dinner at the Anse Chastenet beach restaurant one evening.
You will definitely want/need a car if you are going to stay here. Most of the activities around the island will require some kind of transportation to get to.
We decided to rent. While the roads were a little nerve racking at first, slow and steady ended up working just fine for us.
The house keeper was nice and cleaned just about every day for us. We thought she would prepare more meals, but ended up not finding a "menu" until more than half-way through. However, she did have the fridge and cabinets fully stocked for us ahead of time, so we had plenty of options for food each day.
The bugs did like to come out and play at night, but we wore bug spray and used the nets for the beds at night. Once we learned that was the best way to go, we didn't really have many problems.
Overall, this place was fantastic, and it was so much less expensive than staying at a resort which would be so much farther from the mountains.
