Scrub Island, Tortola, BVI hotel review Visited: October 2014
I will keep this short and sweet.
Everything here is completely over-priced. A trip to the marketplace for a days worth of groceries will cost $50. You have to pay for a ferry or water taxi to go ANYWHERE. The grocery store is more like a gas station with hardly any options. There is only one place to eat for each breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A meal for two will cost between $40 and $100 for each meal.
There are four "beaches". One of which is only accessible via kayak and the other has no access point. We climbed piles of sharp rocks to get to it. All four beaches are tiny with little sand and incredibly rocky.
There are no activities at all and everything closes super early. Not worth the money.

Scrub Island, Tortola, BVI hotel review Visited: July 2010

I am biased in favor of the resort since I got married on the top of Little Scrub in October 2000.
This was my first time back since they started building the $160M+ resort that just opened in February 2010.
Our first day on the island, we took the free ferry to Trellis Bay and got $10 cab ride to super market in Road Town and stocked up on food. For the rest of the day, the kids were off to the pools with water slide and hot tub. The frozen drinks at the pool bar were expensive, but delicious.
When they tired of the pools, the kids took the few steps down to the beach and spent the next few hours digging and building forts in the sand and taking the ocean kayaks out to see both parts of Scrub and adjacent islands. Marina Cay was a short paddle to visit Pussers.
The islands are very steep, so a walk to anywhere will challenge your legs. So if you enjoy that burning sensation in your calves, have at it! The islands are connected by an isthmus with a rough road to take you down to the North Beaches and out toward the tip of Big Scrub.
On the way back from Big Scrub we stopped on the South Beach to collect shells.
I recommend the deep tissue massage at the spa, Dive BVI, the hotel boutique and the gym. I was impressed with the warmth and professionalism of the entire hotel staff.
There is a public PC for guest use in the customer center, too.
We had two meals in the main dining room. They were expensive, but delicious and well served.
When this project is done, it will be spectacular.
