What's special about Marina Cay, BVI?
Marina Cay is a very tiny private island just off the tip of Tortola. Visitors can reach the island by flying into Beef Island and taking a short ferry ride over to Marina Cay. Since the entire island is only 8 square miles in land surface, getting around is pretty easy, but that also means that accommodations and entertainment are somewhat limited. There is a hotel on the island, but if you don’t book early, you may have to stay in Tortola and travel to the lovely Marina Cay for day trips.
The island sits in a shallow lagoon, so the swimming is excellent, and affords even waders and small children glimpses of the colorful tropical fish that live in and around the nearby reef. The reef also makes the lagoon a great place for diving and snorkeling. Because of its isolation and nearly completely natural state, Marina Cay makes an excellent site for a destination wedding. Guests can either stay at the hotel right on the island, or travel to Tortola after the ceremony and stay in a villa rental or other rental property there.
