What's special about Trinidad and Tobago?
Trinidad and Tobago embody all that we think of when we talk about the Caribbean. The rhythmic patois of the residents, the carnival atmosphere, and the old country ruins intermingled with 21st Century hotels and resorts, and the sound of steel drums to lull us to sleep. This is all that a Caribbean vacation should be.
Finding a place to stay in Trinidad and Tobago will be the least of your worries, as there are a number of excellent choices available. The hotels run the gamut from small boutique hotels and guest houses to top-named establishments like the Mariott. There are also a bevy of private resorts and luxurious private villas for rent. The hard part will be deciding which of them to book.
The larger hotels and resorts can offer full services like spas with exotic treatments, private pools and beaches, 4-star restaurants, and a full staff to meet your every need. The private villas offer many of the same amenities with the added benefit of being in your own individual house. The villas often sleep six or more people, and usually offer staff for housekeeping and cooking if desired.
The water adventures available for visitors range from beachcombing on the miles of white sand beaches, to swimming, sailing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Many of the beaches have food vendors set up onsite so you can grab a snack if you get hungry. There are a number of natural pools and lagoons scattered about the islands that offer a little more intimacy than the beaches.
If shopping is your passion, you’ll find plenty of places to explore. Trinidad and Tobago can offer up everything from boutiques with traditional Caribbean crafts and exotic art pieces to full-scale malls with top brands and familiar stores. At the end of the day, head to the beach with a picnic basket and a bottle of wine to watch the sun set over the Caribbean Sea. It is the one lasting impression you’ll want to take away from your trip to Trinidad and Tobago.
